Pathfinder 2E Things You Love about a Game: Pathfinder 2E edition (+)

OMG- That is so true and how could I miss that?! I’m running a game that has scaled up from 5 to 8 players recently and, from my perspective, it has been so easy to scale the encounters up to match. Also, everyone has something they contribute to a game - tactically in combat, also with their...

Pathfinder 2E Things You Love about a Game: Pathfinder 2E edition (+)

Things I like: 1. Options. Ancestry, Background Class - the ABC - give so many options for characters that allow players scope to be who they want 2. 3 action economy works sooo well and it’s great to see fighters get more strategic with how they get in and fight 3. The glossary/index - let’s...

    D&D 5E Could D&D Die Again?

At the end of the day, Hasbro/wotc has to return a profit on the investment on D&D. If they don’t, then D&D will cease and only survive as long as their hobbyists. In the long term, that is a slow death. People die out, and with them the culture of ttrpg gaming. If you’re looking for an example...

    D&D 5E Could D&D Die Again?

Simply, no matter how much you might not think, yes D&D could die again and it’s probably quite likely. How? Here are my possible scenarios Hasbro/Wotc could make bad business decisions in other or new areas that could cascade into it’s D&D section. Alternatively, it might make a questionable...

D&D (2024) What can WotC do in OneD&D to make the DM's Guide worth buying?

D&D 3.5 had the book Weapons of Legacy that did this. I liked it and had fun with my players. It was at the tale end of the bloat with 3.5 before 4e hit. I know not many people agreed that it was a good book

D&D (2024) What can WotC do in OneD&D to make the DM's Guide worth buying?

At risk of crossing the streams, I do like how PF2e just has a single core rulebook covering players and the GM. A seperate book exists for those wanting to lift their game (so to speak). Downside: it’s a hefty book. Upside from the downside: the glossary serves as an index and is really...

    IN REMEMBRANCE--2022 AD

For me, Louse Fletcher will always be the fabulously evil, duplicitous and wonderful Kai Wynn from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Farewell Adami.

    Just watched Sandman

I thought 10 was the last one. I got the feeling that 11 was true to the graphic novel / comic format where there is the bonus short story that looks unrelated but connects to the main story that you just finished

    Just watched Sandman

Implied is always the best way to do horror. Let your mind fill in the gaps. The diner episode left me shaken. The scissor scene left me shaken.

Mods shutting down threads for threadcrapping

Being able to post a thread to educate others or be educated ourselves means things might change. It might be slow, but I think people here can drive change as much as if WotC drive the change themselves. Let’s face it, even when change happens from the top down it still can go wrong…

D&D General New WOTC racism allegations regarding Hadozee and Spelljammer

WTF?! If calling out racism in ttrpg is what happens in 2022, well I’m all for it. And fwiw, it’s not out of proportion.

D&D (2024) What do you think One D&D will do to the VTT industry?

I imagine at first there will be no big changes. Over time, though, it would be reasonable to assume that Hasbro/WotC will want to restrict access and redirect to their proprietary VTT. If they don’t make people use their VTT and pay the subscription, why develop it? At first too, this might be...

D&D (2024) "One D&D": do you like this name for the 2024 edition?

Oh, sorry, I missed that. Kudos to you for doing first

D&D (2024) "One D&D": do you like this name for the 2024 edition?

My immediate thought was this… “One D&D to rule them all. One D&D to find them. One D&D to bring them all And in the darkness bind them.” Less Wizards of the Coast and more Sauron and Saruman…

Star Trek, Paramount+, and a Defense of the Greatest Star Trek Captain

Sisko, then Picard, then Lorca, then Kirk. The others don’t bear mentioning. Picard only gets a mention because he kickstarted the franchise again in the late 80s. Actually, TNG is pretty unwatchable. (You just try and sit through season 1 & 2, it’s pretty much unwatchable). However, despite a...

    Orville: New Horizons (Spoilers)

Wow! This weeks “From Unknown Graves” was spectacular. Ok, Isaac’s inability to access emotions is unsurprising, but making the viewer understand and empathise with the Kaylon? That was splendid. I thought Charly’s words to Isaac were just right. Amazing stuff

D&D (2024) The Half Orc. Are they still needed?

I totally agree. Pathfinder 2e includes this in its options now so you can half-dwarves, half-gnomes, etc. I think the problem for me was the explanation for a half-orc coming from sexual violence. I don’t see why that should be the default reason for blending.

    For All Mankind (Apple+)

I wouldn’t say that. There’s quite a few good shows but it depends on your thang. Foundation, Ted Lasso, Severance, Shining Girls, Slow Horses and Tehran are good in different ways.
