When and what game did you start with.

1988, D&D Red Box. Taught myself to DM with a small group of friends as players. Switched to WEG Star Wars shortly thereafter.

    Why System Matters for Roleplaying

Personally, I think the system is one of the most important aspects informing play. D&D breeds a very different playstyle than Marvel Heroic Roleplaying. System choice is of utmost importance as the mechanical aspects present allow players to interact with the fictional narrative in certain...

    D&D 5E Do You Delve?

Never. I'm pretty sure the last "dungeon crawl" I ran was in the early nineties.

    D&D 5E Humans Only

I prefer human only as I don't think having other races really adds anything to the game. Elves and Dwarves and such are just humans in rubber masks anyway, may as well just stick with just humans. I find players characterize more when they don't have "but I'm an Elf!" to fall back on.

D&D General Styles of Roleplaying and Characters

I am the exact opposite. The zero-dimension playstyle is something I can't stand participating in, it's just about the most boring thing I have ever experienced. Whereas the three-dimensional playstyle offers so much more for me I can't ever consider it in the same realm as zero-dimension. For...

D&D 5E Why do guns do so much damage?

My vote is to keep them as is! The extra damage is a way of extrapolating one of two things, the AP nature of firearms (because you can stop a knife thrust with your hand, but not a bullet), or to compensate for not getting STR bonus to damage (do firearms get DEX bonus to damage???). Anyway...

D&D 5E Do you find alignment useful in any way?

Well, I have never seen a point in listing specific weapons in a creatures stat block, except for natural weapons. Same for worn armour.

D&D 5E Do you find alignment useful in any way?

That's why I see no point to Alignment. If Orcs can be good, why bother listing then as evil?

D&D 5E Do you find alignment useful in any way?

I found it useful back when Orcs were monsters, there for the slaughter as they were savage and brutal and unrepentant. Now that Orcs are just humans in rubber masks, Alignment has no purpose. I think it might come in handy as a touchstone for new players to help them embody their PC better...

    D&D General First D&D Character?

Well, my first half dozen characters weren't D&D characters so I had been a DM for a dozen D&D (and two dozen WEGd6 Star Wars) campaigns by the time I made a character. Oliver D'Burrows, real name Olly Cobbler, a swashbuckler and maker of fine shoes. He tried hard to be just and honorable, but...

D&D 5E D&D compared to Bespoke Genre TTRPGs

I'm lazy, so modifying a game system is not something I want to do. Using D&D for anything other than D&D is a no go for me. I'm also smart, so learning a new system is relatively simple. Learning a new system that actually does what I want is way easier than wasting a bunch of my time modifying...

How Do You Feel About NPC Party Members (A Poll)

Depends heavily on how magic works. The singular wizard that can lay waste to all the world's armies is not unusual. As for D&D style magic and worlds, they often completely ignore the fact of magic existing in order to keep society working in a fashion similar to medieval Europe. I highly doubt...
