D&D 5E Halfling rogue sniping from the the second rank

Right. And really it only matters for characters with Cunning Action so they can take advantage (literally) every round. I suppose a party of halflings could also do some shenanigans where they all line up behind a human that opens a door, and everyone tosses surprise hand axes and fire bolts...

D&D 5E Why does the "criminal" background start with low wealth?

The criminal is just doing crime wrong. He's like the guys in Office Space. "We would be good at this if we had more practice." Look at the Charlatan. Comfortable wealth! Even the urchin, a literal street beggar, has managed to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and achieve Modest wealth...

D&D 5E Halfling rogue sniping from the the second rank

I should also add, a lightfoot halfling doesn't have to be directly behind the larger creature that gives them cover. They could be 60 feet away and still get it.

D&D 5E Halfling rogue sniping from the the second rank

It's still better to attack with advantage even if you have a -2 cover penalty. If a fighter is in melee and the halfling is hiding behind it, I would say that halfling is in danger! Cheat Sheet/DM Screen

I've also made a Basic 5e cheat sheet, available here: docs.google.com/file/d/0B7n5bpadgZz4WmRIdE1HeVBaeFk/ Throw an https in front of that, I can't post links. This one is more for players. One page, white background, all the moves, actions, conditions, death rules and more.

D&D 5E Basic already surprising us.

You just blew my mind with that one. Yep, darkvision makes you see as if the area were lightly obscured, which gives disadvantage on perception, which means someone sneaking around in the dark will rarely be found even by someone with darkvision (-5 to passive perception). Then again, dim...

D&D 5E How Are People Handling Cover?

You can also run into situations like a halfling rogue hiding behind a taller ally. They can shoot through the ally's square (square! I can't think without a grid) and would get cover depending on the angle the DM decides on. They would also get advantage if hidden (halflings can hide behind...

D&D 5E what is your favourite spell in 5th edition so far?

Counterspell. Versatile for a player and it's great for a DM.
