    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

Well the most recent Psionic Classes from U/A are in. No Psi Die just means a static, defined Die progression with either an ability modifier or proficiency bonus added in. Sincerely, I hope you are not too disappointed with whatever is released.

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

Max, every thread regarding psionics for the last 2 years on ENworld ran for 10+ pages. These were not peaceful assemblies...these were rancorous discussions that never resulted in consensus...the threads died from pure exhaustion. Max, you love Psionics, but my fallible memory places you as an...

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

What is an "average RPG" in 2020? CRPGs are massively complex. Warhammer Fantasy Role Playing is more complex then D&D 5e. The Cypher system games have at their heart a resolution system that can charitably be called "fidely and non-intuitive". Pathfinder 1e is more complex. Hell, Gloomhaven...

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

Max, you are certainly entitled to your feelings.... but none of what was produced in U/A was what you wanted. Some other method of polling, was not going to change that.

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

The Cleric class works fine as well. Replace the word Divine with Psionic...and a Knowledge Cleric is a Pyschometric Reader, a Light cleric is a Pyrometric, so on and so forth. The 2e Psioncist, (as well as the 1e Dragon magazine class), used the cleric tables for attacks and saving throws.

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

Fighters have the Eldritch Knight, and the Echo Knight for non-spell based Warrior Magic. Psi Knight might be in Tasha's. Rogues have the Arcane Trickster. Psi-Subclass might be in Tasha's. Barbarians have the Ancestral Guardian and Storm Herald, both rather magical...just not spell users...

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

The strong majority of people love spells. That is what their surveys showed. The 20 or so people on this board that always want something else, no matter what was presented, are a rounding error statistically, at best. In 1e Psionic powers were largely spells, with a Psionic Combat table...

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

Psionics always seemed grafted onto Dark Sun. If you weren't playing a Psioncist, you basically just got extra powers. To me the Defiler/Preserver divide was the interesting facet of the setting. The Dragonmarked races of Eberron show a possible route that can be taken, to make setting...

    D&D 5E Psionics in Tasha

What I find terribly amusing is for all the cries of wanting a unique Psionics system, the base spell system of 5e is essentially the 2e Psionics system, filtered through bounded accuracy. Spells, now, like the Psionics of 2e Do Not Autoscale with level..you have to upcast. Basically Psionics...

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden -- A Comprehensive Review

There is a pretty substantial amount of DM guidance on how to play any of the numerous oddball NPCs available. Overall, this is the best written adventure WOTC has released so far. (I have not read the Starter/ Essential sets) I hated that about SKT, no real ability to develop any location...

D&D 5E Weird Interpretations for High/Low Ability Scores

Yep...he is the dumb one at the monastery or the University. At the bar...not so shabby.

D&D 5E Who got their Rime today?

I received my copy yesterday, but started with the appendices to start with. Custom spells, some cool artifacts, and useful monsters, and probably the best NPC stats I've seen in a WotC module to date. Also the module states there has not been a summer in Icewind Dale for two years...which is...

D&D 5E Weird Interpretations for High/Low Ability Scores

So let's flip the question, if a 5 INT means you are a gormless drooler, what do You do with a Knowledge Cleric? In between casting 9th level spells, and wiping drool, this street legal character also is rocking a +9 to two "Knowledge" skills. A 5 INT character is more mentally capable in pure...

D&D 5E Weird Interpretations for High/Low Ability Scores

That is totally fair Umbran....I could not resist, a mocking response. What I wish Ruin Explorer had explored more in his post, rather then dismissing the reality of games with rolled stats.. was instead we examined the difference between the two stat generation styles. In a Point Buy system...

D&D 5E Weird Interpretations for High/Low Ability Scores

Sigh, alas...I and the gaming groups I participate in are in "The Real World". So much for inclusivity. Perhaps you should re-read your post and underline the instances where you Think You might be being Dismissive and Closed Minded? If your total is 0-1 instances, politely I suggest trying...

D&D 5E Weird Interpretations for High/Low Ability Scores

A Halfling with the Lucky feat is a sufficient explanation for an NPC, (though the combination still isn't an Attribute). A player is going to want to pick a class. The point isn't accuracy, or total fidelity....the point is allowing players to try different ideas while still being effective...

D&D 5E Weird Interpretations for High/Low Ability Scores

That is an excellent point. The people I play with like role playing, so taking a 5 in a statistic would be considered a challenge for the player to incorporate the stat into an effective character, not something to be min/maxed. DMs should absolutely demand that characters that have unusual...

D&D 5E The Scout Rogue - how did it work out?

That is fine...many games are ran like that. As I have gotten older, my priorities as a gamer have altered. I care less about making the perfect rules set, or having the "correct aesthetics". I care more about getting myself as the DM, out of the way of player choices. It is why I prefer rules...

D&D 5E The Scout Rogue - how did it work out?

Do not watch the Star Wars movies...you won't be able to suspend disbelief. 😀 My advice is don't let your personal aesthetic get in the way of fun. A magic tome that whispers secrets that only it's bonded owner can hear, and allows it owner to cast magic without help from divinities, mystical...
