    New D&D Video Game Announced

My theory is that closing this deal with a big game director and show it to the investors was what secured a huge annual bonus for someone on Hasbro. Now getting this game finished (or even started) isn't a priority until someone need to meet their KPIs or something.

Dungeons & Dragons SRD 5.2 Is Officially Live

I don't know about specific animes, but SquareSoft took a lot directly from D&D when making the Final Fantasy franchise. The Beholder in FF1 is my favourite example. It was another time and maybe Square Enix and WotC have some kind of deal about it currently, but I would not call it public domain.

D&D (2024) Should the environmental conditions scale by tier?

No, but in later tiers characters are more capable of dealing with environmental conditions they couldn't before. For a Tier 1 party a hailstorm could be a challenge, but exploring caves inside a volcano would be outright deadly (YMMV).

D&D 5E Which 5e Should I Propose to My Group? [Updated]

Dungeon Master's Guide isn't very clear about it, but 5e 2014 have a very specific expectation about treasure: you're awarded the equivalent of one treasure hoard of adequate level each adventuring day. (one hoard at level 1, one at level 2, two at level 3, three at each level 4 to 10, and two...

D&D (2024) Monster Manual 2025: Is Multiattack order prescriptive now?

The only monster I remember having a prescriptive order is the Grick, that first use its tentacles and if the attack hits it bites the target. How is the wording of it's multiattack in the new edition?

D&D (2024) Dragon Delves Cover Revealed

While I do agree Shattered Obelisk and Eve of Ruin are far from the best 5e books, I think she have an advantage with Dragon Delves: they are separate adventures instead of a campaign book. The number one flaw in Shattered Obelisk is making a Lost Mine a worst adventure by attaching an unrelated...

Advice on Session 0 and Player Surveys (+)

A thing I tend to do before and after a campaign is asking about the most memorable moments of past campaigns and things they didn't like. It helps to see what they value most. Recently I found out that while I love a huge dungeon half of my players think my dungeons would be better if they're...

    How often do you play?

I voted biweekly but it's not exactly that. We play once every three weeks (it was once every two weeks but work schedules got in our way). We play four to five hours sessions, and sometimes we play between the scheduled sessions.

Project Sigil Sigil, WotC 3D vtt game automation no more?

I'm on the side of "if you want automation you can have it, but if you don't you also have that option". An example: I love Foundry VTT but I have to be honest, I never used more than half the features it offers. I use if for tracking overworld maps, city maps, dungeons, light and tokens, and...

D&D General Playing to "Win" - The DM's Dilemma

It depends. I play monsters more as roleplaying what they would do than trying to win a skirmish. If the party is fighting a griffon its objective is to make one character unconscious, grab them and fly away with its meal. I play goblins less optimally than I play hobgoblins. Orcs are brutal...

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

The system depends on what we want to play. Currently we're playing campaign set on the Sword Coast, so the 2014 5e was a good choice. If we're planning to do something with more dungeon crawls next maybe we play OSE, and there's a campaign we're planning to ressurect for a while that would be a...

Why Dungeons & Dragons Isn't Putting Out a Campaign Book in 2025

I have nothing against the campaign books, but I hope they publish they less and give more attention to it. I would rather have a Curse of Strahd every two years than an Eve of Ruin every year.

Why Dungeons & Dragons Isn't Putting Out a Campaign Book in 2025

I hope it becomes the standard, not only the shorter modules are easier to use and insert into an ongoing campaign, lately the quality of the short modules is way better than the campaign books. I guess it's because the campaigns are suffering from the "too much authors" problem, it's visible...
