This will be the first D&D book I pass on. I'm not a fan of Penny Arcade or Acquisitions Inc and nothing about this book appeals to me.

I think you might be right and that would be a shame. I enjoy several of Modiphius' games and I will be giving them a chance to save VtM 5E. And I will always support Onyx Path's work in the same area so no matter what happens to VtM 5E, I'll still have my Onyx Path. :)

No, that's not what it means. There is a right way and a wrong way to approach the subjects in question. The wrong approach was taken and that has been fixed. Please don't minimalize the issue to fit a political bias. Everyone is done a disservice when that happens.

Yep, Modiphius just announced they are the stewards for VtM 5E and listed the books they will be releasing during 2019. All in all, it looks like VtM will do fine even with the shake ups at Paradox.

I concur, WOTC's absence was noticed. The topic came up numerous times during the convention in conversations with different groups. That said, it is nice to see WOTC doing right by their loyal customers. Good on you!

Even more important, only minor drops in the other games coinciding with the launch of all those new 5E campaigns. Two thumbs up for more games being played overall (even considering some of those are probably just folks moving from one medium to another). That's a win for the community as a whole.

You would replay a mystery for the same reasons you would re-watch a mystery movie. Yes, you know who the murderer is, but the story is still entertaining. Exploring a story from a new perspective is the attraction, a very engaging exercise in creativity imho.
