Converting 3.5 Eberron adventures to 4E-advice, opinions

I feel that. Because of time I cut back to one session every other week. But that gives me plenty of time to figure out what the hell is going to happen next, so it sort of washes out. Also, don't forget about the DMG suggestions for random dungeons. I've had great luck with it. I find...

I found the perfect image for my avenger!

He could do all that badass pressure point disabling / joint locking takedown stuff, and besides, he's shirtless throughout the whole quartet of novels. Also the whole guild thing feels sort of like a physical training oriented monastery. Mechanically there's no real reason, but thematically...

Converting 3.5 Eberron adventures to 4E-advice, opinions

I am in the middle of a pretty loose adaptation of Grasp of the Emerald Claw. I upped it to 11th level, and it's pretty much an infiltration hack and slash dungeon crawl. Falling damage is higher in 4E (d10 vs. d6), so if there is one trap that has the potential to do about 180 points of...

I found the perfect image for my avenger!

Pretty sure that image is Severian the Torturer from the Book of the New Sun. Interesting to think of him as an avenger. Probably a hybrid monk/avenger.

Hey Logan Bonner or Mike Mearls, how to handle free actions after charge?

One of my players has a minotaur barbarian, and this has only happened once or twice, but I'm all for it. The player has a blast, everyone feels awesome, and it is cinematic as hell. If it really breaks the encounter balance, well, that's what that horn on the bad guy's belt that is an...

    Monster Optimization

My party freaked when they got stripped of items. Totally freaked.

    1st level Artificer

So does he use an implement at all? It seems like it would really hobble an artificer to not use an implement.

DMG II Preview and Mearls old work

I have the exact opposite problem. The halfling always wants to climb up a wall and jump down onto a monster for backstab damage or something.

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

Totally right. My players would never take a feat like that without running it by me - it never occurred to me that player's might do that. Yikes. That could nuke a campaign. Especially if word got to the dragons and the Light of Siberys is mobilized and several thousand dragons eliminate...

    Explorer!!!

I'm intrigued, but can't pony up the bucks without some sort of preview. I'd love to see the first level powers, but I understand you've got to be protective, and hell, you deserve to get paid!

How do you design your adventures

I'm with you Crothian. That's the way I do it too. It's working quite well. I have three super villains all working out their machinations, and the PCs learn about things when they step in it.

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

I just moved my game into Eberron, because I think it's awesome. The party is level 11. Almost every player wants to take the mark of storm. I told them that they can do what they want, but that there would be severe consequences. I let them know in no uncertain terms that the house in...

Help! My newbie DM just bought a Spindown d20!

I can't imagine how much I'd hate someone using them all the time, but I (the DM) use one for mystery checks (like wandering monsters, random effects, enemy perception, etc). My players quake in horror when that monster die shakes the table. I love it. But that's seriously the only thing I...

    Prequel adventure to WotBS

Amen! It is really good. I left the AP after Shadowrift, and returned to my homebrew hodgepodge because I was fed up with the inconsistencies, but I am coming back for episodes 6 and 9. 7 is horrible, and should just be forgotten, but 8 isn't too bad. Thanks Piratecat! Can you and Mr...

Dungeon 161 - The Temple Between

I just started it last night, although we skipped the first adventure. My group is 5th level, and they didn't need to fight more hobgoblins. I summarized the salient points, and got them on the road to Overlook. I think it's a pretty great time to start SoW, because the Heroic tier is well...

    [WotC_Logan] Why is Tiamat Huge?

I am almost sure of this. Very cool. I am shifting my anti-Tiamat campaign to SoW because I have such a strong feeling about this - and the past couple adventures were awesome.

Extended Rest in the Horned Hold (spoilers)

I cut that down to two wights, cuz I wanted to get on with the show, but I can see that being totally brutal - just wiping out healing surges. Gotta suck.

Extended Rest in the Horned Hold (spoilers)

It's true it says they could rest there. My concern was that if a patrol comes around because they didn't hear the 'all is well' call, then the scouts sent to investigate would have stumbled upon the site of a massacre, and would have raised full alarm, and searched every closet top to bottom...

Is there actually a disarm power?

Definitely hyperbole. But it was high enough that it was pretty much guaranteed to succeed unless there is a fumble. I am starting to come around to the 'fights last too long' mindset myself, however. I kinda wish that he wasn't a paladin of Bahamut, cuz a little Blood Meridian-esque...

Is there actually a disarm power?

yeah, i had a dragonborn paladin with a +1000 or so to intimidate checks, anytime an enemy was bloodied he'd surrender. lame. houseruled out.
