    Are RPGs Watchable?

I was once accused of trafficking with demons when I admitted I eat Miracle Whip on a sandwich.

    Are RPGs Watchable?

The only roleplaying session besides the AI Podcasts/Videos that I listened to more than once was a Dungeon World game podcast called "The Mad King". There were two sessions, and the DM roleplayed his NPCs as well as or even better than his players. The gist of the story was that the king of a...

Saves and 4th Edition and Jim Darkmagic *SPOILERS*

13th Age has a house rule (in the rulebook!) that says a character cannot permanently die except by the hand of a named opponent.

Saves and 4th Edition and Jim Darkmagic *SPOILERS*

So, something like the character makes saves at a progressively lower penalty each turn? On the first turn after being charmed, Save -10. On the second turn, Save -6, then -2 on the third turn. The fourth turn, save +2, etc. Something like that?

Saves and 4th Edition and Jim Darkmagic *SPOILERS*

Okay, I'm looking at the Character sheet for D&D5e, and there is, in fact, a section for "Death Saves", so apparently Jim died because the damage dealt to him was so high.

Saves and 4th Edition and Jim Darkmagic *SPOILERS*

So, I'm listening through the "Acquisitions, Inc." Podcasts (again), and have reached the "Ark of the Mad Mage" adventure, which uses the D&D 5th edition rules (or, at least, an early version of them) *SPOILERS FOLLOW* (As if you haven't already listened through the AQI Podcasts at least twice...

Masterplan vs Roll20 vs Fantasy Grounds, etc.

WotC should have bought Masterplan and made it the official DM tool. WotC could still do that, too; update it so that the program supports all editions of D&D, and allow content to be uploaded to it, then set up an online easy-to-use VTT based of Masterplan and thus expand their subscriber base.

Masterplan vs Roll20 vs Fantasy Grounds, etc.

What I would want for online play is a very, VERY basic interactive gridmap that allows one to drag and drop rooms and corridors, then place objects and tokens on top of it. Something "turn-key", as they say. There is a program called Dungeonographer (or something like that) that gets close...

[Complete Divine] Radiant Servant of Pelor is too powerful.

The cleric is so powerful he can bring threads back from the dead ten years later.

Masterplan vs Roll20 vs Fantasy Grounds, etc.

Does anyone use Masterplan, Roll20, or Fantasy Grounds? Which one would be best for the casual DM? Which would be best for someone wanting to DM at an actual table, and which would be best for running an online game (either play-by-post or a Skype-type game)? From what I can tell, Masterplan is...

    D&D 5E Array v 4d6: Punishment? Or overlooked data

In my opinion, if a DM were going to require rolled stats, the best option is roll 2d6, add 6, in order.

    D&D 4E 4e needs a Definitive Guide

Mike "Sly Flourish" Shea had a buyer's guide for 4e products. It's out of date, now, of course; the Red Box Starter Set goes for over $100 on Amazon.com, now.

D&D 5E Wotc needs to clean up retail shelves

The OP mentioned that a 4e "Starter Set" was available. I'm assuming this is the 4e "Red Box", and therefore am wondering if it could be had for the retail price of $19.95 (or whatever). If so, it might make a good purchase; it's going for around $130 on amazon.com for a new copy, and around $50...

    D&D 4E 4e blogs?

Points of Light. He dabbles in other games, but is a 4e fan. He has updated and played through Keep on the Shadowfell. Sly Flourish. This is Mike Shea's blog, and while he is migrating over to 5e, he still has a lot of good information about how to DM, including a couple of books about...

A Question Concerning Certain Essentials Red Box Mage Spells

Well, the powers were optional because they came from the Red Box. Some of the other class powers in the Red Box were changed or exchanged. The Red Box thief's "Bump and Run" was replaced by the superior "Escape Artist" in Heroes of the Fallen Lands. The Transmutation powers from the Red Box...
