    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

I think that is the bubble we are in hanging out on sites like this where we overestimate awareness about things like this. I don’t think it plays out at all with the general population. Even some people who say they won’t go will end up seeing it. I am not saying it will be a success. But...

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

Wow, what a horrible analogy but ok. Speaking of perspective, or lack of it in this case, I cannot imagine comparing the OGL issues to racial equality.

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

It’s not about conflict. Some people think life is better without the constant toxic anger. I just cannot maintain anger that long. This is a hobby for me. When my hobby has more drama than my real life it is difficult to keep caring. I call it perspective. Some people lack it.

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

I believe the OGL situation will have zero impact on the movie. None whatsoever. Only a fraction of most RPG players are probably even aware which makes it near nil of the general population. Not to mention controversy such as negative comments may actually draw more attention. Even bad...

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

Maybe but this is the 3rd trailer I have seen so it is not like the 1st trailer to drop.

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

So right. People in these forums who want to see the movie but who are boycotting due to the OGL fiasco are only punishing themselves. Their numbers are not nearly sufficient enough to make or break this movie. It will succeed or fail based on appeal to a general audience.

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

The problem is for places like Enworld this is hijacking threads turning off people who might have been supportive otherwise.

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

Yup. That’s the very real risk. Irritating other people who become more sympathetic to WoTC when it seems like things have just gone too far or on too long.

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

I imagine they will turn comments off for everything they can for the next couple months.

I like how you chime in on a discussion about the trailer just to indicate you are too bitter to watch it.

D&D 5E Which D&D books currently scheduled for 2023 are you interested in?

That is my concern too. I would be a lot more interested if there were some assurances about what ‘backward comparability’ looks like. I suspect it will mainly apply to adventures.

D&D 5E Tyranny of Dragons re-released without fanfare?

To be honest I have started to feel that way too. Originally I was very mad at WoTC as anyone could see a couple weeks ago with my posts. Over time the extreme level of vitriol and what has turned into what I perceive as a certain level of entitlement among some TTRPG players has pushed me to...

Over 1,500 Publishers Support Paizo's Upcoming Open RPG Creator's License

I agree it is best to settle this in court. ORC is fine as is trying to get the OGL 1.2 changed but the best way to protect everything is go to court and then we can know for certain whether deauthorizing the OGL is legal or not.

Over 1,500 Publishers Support Paizo's Upcoming Open RPG Creator's License

I think you are correct. I would add another group as well that best summarizes me and my gaming groups. People displeased with WoTCs actions on the OGL, and who buy a lot of 3PP material to the tune of thousands of dollars worth, but when push come to shove stay with D&D which means saying...

Over 1,500 Publishers Support Paizo's Upcoming Open RPG Creator's License

I Yeah a few will probably do very well. Some may go the OGL 1.2 route and benefit from the creator badge especially if the movie does well and OneD&D is popular. But for a lot of small publishers I expect a death spiral. Many of us have gotten used to beautiful books lavish-fully...

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

It is not often one is quoted by God. I don’t see them budging on this and I wouldn’t either. Arbitration remains expensive and risky. Who is going to most for it?

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

Maybe. Maybe not. Things change quickly. If OneD&D is wildly successful that creator badge could have real value.

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

I don’t think this is something the SLPC would be involved in. They have miuch bigger fish to fry.

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

Your hyperbole doesn’t offend me. I am under no illusion regarding the relationship. WoTC is a business wanting to maximize profit. I am the consumer. If they produce a product I like at a price point I think is fair and I can afford I may buy it. This is a voluntary relationship. I am not...

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

Well I would wager WoTC does not consider the OGL a contract and most contracts don’t last forever.
