WotC updates SRD resources page with CC faq and SRD 5.1 under CC

They probably can't add older editions to the same SRD but let's hope they also release the older edition SRDs to CC. What I find interesting is that: For the SRD: they seem to be committing to update the 5.1 SRD (which is a little out-of-date even before you consider recent changes to races...

WotC updates SRD resources page with CC faq and SRD 5.1 under CC

I found this statement interesting: Will more content be added to the SRD? The full 5th edition game and its expansions are available for use via the DMs Guild. New material will be added to the SRD if it is necessary to keep this document and its contents compatible with the latest D&D rules.

Nerd Immersion and others have mentioned getting the same letter, seems legit

D&D (2024) Armour Bonus Stacking and Rings of Protection

I totally agree that AC bonuses from item really shouldn't stack with each other. Likewise AC bonuses from effects also really shouldn't stack with each other (I'm looking at you Ceremony of Wedding, Defensive Duelist, Defensive Flourish, Haste, Multiattack Defense, Shield, Shield of Faith and...

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

I'm going to second that - l think they've captured the feel of a D&D game and it looks really entertaining. There's a DM behind the scenes of that movie keeping a straight face while switching between "&%$£ it, I'll allow it" and "are you sure you want to..." I'm ok with Hasbro focusing on...

    DnD Shorts final video

One really interesting comment was the one about WotC not being able to take down the free website-that-shall-not-be-mentioned.tools. A bit odd to blame the OGL for that as neither it, nor the other-website-that-shall-not-be-mentioned, use the OGL. WotC clearly know they're on very shaky ground...

    DnD Shorts final video

You accidentally copied in Wizards when tweeting this as a reply to the DnD_Shorts tweet. You should probably try to delete that if you can.

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

Interestingly, classes and races are Licensed Content but classes (not artificers of course) and a few class abilities are at least named in the Creative Commons game mechanics bits (via the Multi-classing bit) and race names via their languages. And looks like essentially all the SRD game...

news scoop: insider account of how the statement was drafted, and the fear-based culture in Wizards offices

Nope, that takes people through to Twitter which sort of defeats the point - like a Rick Roll for corporate social media. Let's try this instead:

news scoop: insider account of how the statement was drafted, and the fear-based culture in Wizards offices

Looks like it might not be Wednesday that this gets released. I want to show my source, but it's Twitter. So let's see if I can put it in a spoiler block :)

    D&D (2024) Armor training

A little note on proficiency bonus for AC. If you apply a global -4 correction factor, you can use proficiency bonus (or restrict to those with martial training), or -2 correction if using a half-proficiency system, or -3 if martials get full proficiency and non-martials get half-proficiency. We...

Level Up (A5E) Product Idea: Region Anthology

Maybe somebody might also like to develop a little mapping tool where you build little hexes of the Regions (and exploration challenges) into your own custom map? I can guarantee I would be building more maps than my players could ever realistically play - a bit like all the Dungeon Builder...

Support the OGL v1.0a; sign this change.org petition

Signed! But everyone consider also signing whichever other OGL petition is currently largest, which is likely to be: www.change.org/p/wizards-hasbro-do-not-change-the-ogl-license

D&D (2024) Hit Dice as an alternate resource?

@Chaosmancer 's resting rules (or similar) are very helpful for things like Heroic Effort. To my mind, some form of slower hp & HD recovery is essential to make the system work. Hit Dice need to have enough value for there to be a meaningful trade-off. Although we use something a bit different...

Level Up (A5E) de-OGL-ifying Level Up?

Not much of the SRD was used, so may be mostly about renaming some things: "De-OGL-fying #levelup5e is a chore, but doable; it's more a layout challenge as renamed elements would need moving alphabetically."

Level Up (A5E) de-OGL-ifying Level Up?

Sorry to inflict a OGL thread here, but today's EN Publishing tweet has given me hope that something positive may come of this OGL mess: "So what are we doing re #opendnd? Still having crisis meetings but our thoughts are along the lines of (a) de-OGL-ifying Level Up and moving to a true open...

D&D (2024) Should there be variable recovery with a long rest?

I think the Xanathar's Guide to Everything long rest rules are pretty reasonable. Can impose rest as if in medium/heavy armor for bad rest. Exhaustion if no rest.

New OGL - what would be acceptable? (+)

I think the ideas you've listed look reasonable. WotC is under no obligation to keep doing an Open License for their IP but they really have to honor the previous licence for prior content for 3PPs to keep any faith with them. For new, OneDnD, content, it's disingenuous for them to call their...
