D&D General Which 3.0/3.5 Prestige classes would make good 5e subclasses? (+)

You probably don't want to hear about the 13th level rogue in my Baldur's Gate II game. I think he's carrying about 7 magic weapons around right now.

D&D General Which 3.0/3.5 Prestige classes would make good 5e subclasses? (+)

My wife's 5.14 PDK dual wielder is working out fine. She's level 11 and currently dual wielding a Mace of Disruption and a +2 Trident in Castle Dracula. hit hit hit and then either a 4th hit or 1d10+44 healing spread amongst the party as a BA. Simple and effective enough!

D&D General Do you play in person or online?

Live play in person, occasionally online if people are sick. Slow play via forums.

D&D General Which 3.0/3.5 Prestige classes would make good 5e subclasses? (+)

The biggest attraction of that PrC to me (especially in NWN) was all the stat boosts you couldn't obtain otherwise. Strength +8, Con +4 or 6, a charisma boost, and maybe wings/flight. I don't think it came with spellcasting.

D&D General Which 3.0/3.5 Prestige classes would make good 5e subclasses? (+)

PrCs Arachnomancer/Verminlord: Wizard or Sorcerer, gets powers to talk to vermin, swarm controls, and buffs to their bug-based spells plus a couple of 1/day "spells". Arcane transformation: Green Star Adept/Acolyte of the Skin/etc. Sorc subclass where the main features are taking on more...

D&D General Do you track ammunition?

I only make my players track magic ammo.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

I read the Hobbit to the boys first, when they were around 8 & 6. Next, we did the Silmarillion to my boys when they were around 9 & 7 (give or take). We are now up to the Cormallen Fields in ROTK, and they are 10 & 8. I tried to start Narnia first, but my older son recognized the White Witch...

D&D General Why did you have to cancel/reschedule your most recent session?

This year, the reasons have been: I, the DM, have been out of town (2x) One or more players have been sick (2x?) Someone had to finish a school paper (2x)

D&D (2024) Is a heavy armored monk feasible?

I don't know about 2024, but it is in 5.14. Here's the thread. I plan to play one at some point.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

I'm a bit surprised to see the OP saying Lord of the Rings isn't as relevant. It's the one that everyone I've played with is familiar with. Is He-Man the new Conan? I know very little about either. I grew up reading science fiction from used book stores, so a lot of it was Golden Age work...

D&D 5E Ranger: House rule to fix Hunter's Mark

I don't know about 5.24, but in my games I've just allowed the Ranger to get +Wis modifier to damage against Favored Enemies. There are 13 creature types and 4 possible FE choices... but few campaigns or characters will pick Favored Enemy: Oozes or Celestials. I think in most campaigns players...

D&D 5E Why Do Higher Levels Get Less Play?

The following non-caster classes/subclasses in 5e continue to scale excellently: The Fighter, who at 20th level is a chainsaw capable of attacking minimum of 8 times two rounds in a row twice per short rest. Assuming even a basic magic weapon (+1d6), the fighter can do damage equal to a failed...

D&D (2024) Question: I have players using dnd beyond char creators, will it be 2024?

My experience has been that everyone who has tried to create a 2014 character has had the 5.24 rules creep in somewhere in the process despite their best efforts. It's really frustrating, mostly because it's due to bad design choices rather than any true necessity. If they're using Beyond and...

[Gamers Wanted] Looking to build a group in the Mt. Vernon, Mt. Pleasant, Winnsboro TX area.

I just found this via a Google search! I live near Winnsboro and am running a game at home. I wouldn't mind another player.

D&D 5E Why Do Higher Levels Get Less Play?

Superman and WW are not great examples for this, because they start basically fully powered. As I mentioned upthread, I'm running a Baldur's Gate II campaign. At level 1, they were hungry, exhausted, and trapped in a dungeon. At level 7, they were well-fed and well-equipped, and decided that...

D&D General Honey, I shrunk the party!

I have a complete module I wrote for the DM's Guild a couple of years ago. I playtested it. The "final boss" was the familiar of the wizard who owned the house. The problem was that you can only fit in so many "tiny sized" encounters plausibly that aren't beasts, and even somewhat magical...

D&D General Pitch a High Level (5.14/5.24) campaign concept

I'm sure a lot of them are one shots or continuations of other things. I know one of the T4 listings I glanced at was something to do with DOTMM. I didn't filter by edition.

D&D General Pitch a High Level (5.14/5.24) campaign concept

Comparatively then :) Using the DM's Guild sorting methods and no further filtering I come up with: Tier 1 5787 adventures Tier 2 4707 Tier 3 1380 Tier 4 460 Tier 4 is 3.7% of the material on DMG

D&D General Pitch a High Level (5.14/5.24) campaign concept

We have some discussions going about why people don't play high level campaigns, and how there's not a lot written for that levels. Maybe someone will write something that will take off, prompted by this thread? IRL I'm already running Baldur's Gate II from 1 to 20ish (2 years in), and...
