Well, as someone still looking for a good generic fantasy game that I enjoy, I’m looking forward to the final product. And it’s a complete game in one book, I don’t understand this obsession online people have with whether or not there will be future products.

My IRL group will probably not be playing DND going forward since its not something we play now. But i am running a DND game online, and may continue to do so. I take online games one game at a time.

A CGI Thing is still worse than the body suit in the original film. But other than that one nitpick, the trailer looks good. Pedro is being Pedro. I'm not sick of that yet.

No MMO has every really been a "WOW killer", no FPS game has truly been a "Call of Duty killer", it's pretty safe to say that no ttrpg is ever going to be a "DND killer". Find what you want to play, and play it. It really doesn't have to be a competition of which is "the best/biggest"

I wanna say it was about a year after Pathfinder 2e came out that we got Pathfinder for Savage Worlds. So here's hoping for Savage Starfinder in 2026!

4th Edition was my first introduction to DND, so it will always have a soft spot in my heart. I miss the monster stat blocks, those should be industry standard.

I'm mixed on this. The collector in me, obviously, wants to get my mitts on the hardcover and the cards. But having run a few sessions of the beta, I'm not sure if its a good fit for my group, or even the kind of game I want to run right now. I am curious to look at reviews for the finalized rules.

that's certainly a take lol. I haven't read the whole thread, but have you looked at 13th Age? That's probably the closest to "big damn heroes from level 1" fantasy I have seen.

A capitalist corporation is always going to place profit motive above anything else. Most of the "bad" decisions being made are above the actual game developers pay grade. So if you enjoy DND, and want the new books, get them. But there's also no harm in waiting. Used sales, future errata...

The Illriger is not a dnd beyond exclusive, or even a WOTC product. It’s a third party MCDM product, that is also an available though MCDM’s web store.

Happy for the people who are interested in it. But this new edition is already off the path of what I’d want in a 2e.
