D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

Gary was his own worst enemy for sure. As a kid/teen playing in the late 80s and early 90s, I still associated him with the game and had no clue that Williams had forced him out in late 85. The sheer volume of material TSR produced during that time period is amazing to look back on.

D&D Movie/TV Netflix Planning Forgotten Realms D&D TV Show With Stranger Things Producer

Yeah I'm not sure where Netflix gets this reputation for cancelling "popular" shows. I'm sure they have cut their fair share, but streamers and Netflix specifically have perfected the art of knowing what shows are worth. It sucks when you like something that is cancelled, but that's life. Shows...

It's no Onward, now that's a D&D movie. Really good, just released at the wrong time (COVID).

It all depends on the type of rain too. Vancouver gets the reputation because it is often overcast, cloudy, or lightly raining. Places that get more actual water hitting the ground might also get more sunny days because they are mixes of powerful rain storms and clear days. Ironically Vancouver...

Even in Vancouver the amount can vary significantly. North Vancouver cited below is a close suburb. "The estimated annual rainfall of Vancouver is 146 cm. Closer to the mountains, North Vancouver gets an estimated average rainfall of 252 cm. Farther west, the estimated annual rainfall of...

Especially these days when you end up waiting 2 years to get a mere 8 episode season of a new show. Enjoy it while it lasts.

An anthology style with a new adventure per season would be a great format.

I think it's fair to say they shot a lot of stuff in specific weather and it added to the show. The sun does shine here in Vancouver, but if you want rain and clouds, it's obviously a better bet than LA. Similarly, Shogun was filmed in Vancouver and you can tell. We also have "Icewind Dale"...

I've heard things have picked up in Vancouver, but only anecdotally from a few people in the industry. The LA fires and aftermath has had a mixed effect. Productions bailed because of the fires but there is pressure to keep business there to help rebuild. There's always lots of low quality...

Levy's last 3 movies have been with Ryan Reynolds. Just saying. And yeah it should be filmed here in Vancouver where Ryan is from. ;)

I think this update is great news. This is Netflix PR and linking a solid show runner. Not a rumour or a "maybe".

You know it's going to be pushing whatever D&D 2024 FR will look like. If the tone and budget is like the movie we'll be fine though, fingers crossed.

That Paramount+ cancellation was a positive development in hindsight. Better names and bigger budget behind this.

D&D General Not the Wicked Witch: Revisiting the Legacy of Lorraine Williams

Yeah I think it just shows how she didn't understand gaming. TSR would have collapsed immediately instead of 10 years later. Of course D&D wouldn't have had that "golden age" at least of my youth, of later 1st ed and 2nd ed.

D&D General Not the Wicked Witch: Revisiting the Legacy of Lorraine Williams

How many details do we have of the ridiculously generous offer that Williams gave Gygax? It seems like that alone would have ended TSR. The money itself, however it was paid out, but also the D&D IP? What was her plan if he accepted that?

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

I recently dug into the D&D/Gygax history and it's all quite fascinating. As a kid in the mid-80s I had no idea what was going on, but obviously thought Gygax was the man, since all of the core 1st Ed books had his name all over them. As somebody involved in business and finance now I can only...

Scales of War Wiki for DMs

Fantastic site. Quick question, where does the 1.5 Far Strider part come from, is that made up on your own for extra detail, or was that in a Dragon/Dungeon I missed? Thanks.

    Making your own power cards

Hey guys, I appreciate everyone's effort with the MSE cards. I think I've finally be convinced to change format from Grandpa's original PPT/PDF format, but they're all good. One question: why don't you include master versions with all cards released to date? It seems like every class/card...
