    Is DnD well-balanced?

Faith doesn't require book-smarts. Religion would be better termed "Knowledge - Religion" - it's perfectly fitting for the mage that buries his nose in books all day and night to know more about the history and minute details of a particular faith than the practitioners of that faith. The mage...

Check out the Compendium entry for "Melee Attack." Seems pretty clear.

How do thief tricks interract with Ready?

You're right, that particular tactic won't work. However, if you take the Cunning Stalker feat, you open up the option of readying an attack for when the enemy moves to a spot that's not adjacent to any other creature. It's one of the easy ways a thief can get CA off-turn.

Help me polish my "Harassment" Swordmage?

What are your level 1 (encounter), 5, 7, and 9 power choices? I suspect they were removed upon some later retraining, but it'll be helpful to see what's there during heroic and paragon play. I disagree with Herschel a bit. As a swordmage with Academy Master you're going to get a bit of extra...

    Move action

Sure, the effect of the power states that you can take the action, so you can. But it still doesn't grant line of effect, so the attack fails. The intent is clear, but the power needs errata to make the attack a zone effect rather than an opportunity action attack from a Removed From Play...

    Move action

You do, actually. As a move action, walking allows you to move a number of squares equal to your speed. You don't have to pick a final destination.

    Powerplayers

He also didn't like it when you banned half his character. Assuming he continues to play, he's going to continue to find good combos; will you continue to ban half the game elements this player chooses? Point is, the concern really isn't with this player. He's unhappy no matter what you do...

    Move action

I'm not sure what you're asking in #1 and #2. #3 - Every DM is going to do this differently. As far as I'm concerned, threatening reach is obvious, and characters should be aware that the creature lashings its tentacles at every little bit of motion 10' out is going to be trouble. #4 -...

    How to stop a Warden?

I'm not disagreeing with you. I went in another direction. There's a lot of health being wasted in a group where the guy with the best defenses, most surges, and highest surge value isn't absorbing most of the enemy effort.

    How to stop a Warden?

Agreed, to a point. A party is a team, and a team usually does its best work when everyone works together. When one team member decides to pull a TO, the team suffers. The unkillable warden wanna-be striker is a great example of this. If he's not playing defender (and no one else is...

Are the new Essentials Classes too powerful?

Staff Expertise is phrased rather specifically - you must be making a melee weapon attack with the staff to qualify for the bonus reach. Since monk attacks lack the "melee" component, it's a clear no-go. The "Implements" section of the class write-up touches on this. What other wording...
