D&D 5E Which MTG Setting would you want as an official D&D Setting?

Lorwyn-Shadowmoor has long been my favorite block so I would love to see a setting for it. And it seems like one of the easiest matches as well given its tribal focus. Shame that WotC doesn’t seem to care to revisit it outside of the rogue MtGO flashback draft.

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

This is fair and where we diverge I suppose. I like to have those flavorful and hyper-specific traits without necessarily needing them to be high use/impact. I’m happy enough to have the racial features provide more to out-of-combat role play and social interaction while leaving the combat...

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

Just to “save my own skin” so to speak, since I assume this references my own post, I was merely co-opting a sort of min-max lingo there for effect and don’t actually believe there is any race-class combo that tangibly suffers enough to demand alteration to play. But to actually answer to this...

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

This is the central idea for me. I’m happy for those that are arguing from a position of “limitation breeds creativity” or who rarely have friction at the table. But it’s my experience that games inherently attract optimizers. And so to provide the widest berth against providing them with more...

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I just mean to say that if only 1 race had any dex beneficial abilities at all then it could still appear to be the ‘statistical’ pick for certain classes and offset the work of generalizing racial ASIs.

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

Could you expound on why you don’t think abilities alone are sufficient? For my own estimation, if a single race has multiple dexterity-based abilities but no other race has any then I think it’s fair to say they are innately more dextrous. Of course, limiting to one option in an example like...

D&D General Why do we Round Down???

At least with regard to calculating ability score modifiers, I imagine it’s to give 20 some meaning.

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

I don't disagree with your end result here as a potentiality, but by that same token I think you are limiting "what grace means" since common usage certainly extends to culture and aesthetic in addition to movement. The PHB details the Elf subheading Slender and Graceful with a focus on their...

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

Interesting. So you end up +2 overall ASI and a feat or +3 and a half-feat? Do you feel the need to account for that elsewhere to keep encounters level or is it not quite deep enough to have an extreme impact? I’ve always felt that the half-feats were the most enticing as a best of both worlds...

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

There’s something to be said for the difference is lessening racial ASI impact and skipping the gameplay loop of leveling and choosing feat vs ASI altogether. I don’t know that the jump here is quite the same. Point buy seems to serve the idea well enough while still retaining a “starting point”.

You’ve got a friend in me. But the WoW presentation of gnomes and goblins has taken over and is too beloved to lose footing now.

    D&D 5E PHB Races Redone

I’d be somewhat surprised if an official redo of the PHB races maintained 25ft speed alongside the small size. They seem to have done away with it given Goblin/Kobold and the customizable nature of lineages. Aarakocra was also an early print and offset with the fly speed anyway.

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

Though I tend to favor rules lite and floating ASIs in my own brew, I would also love to play a campaign with hyper-defined racial identities in lieu of the relatively minor differences that exist. So it makes a lot of sense to me that those who favor racial ASIs might also favor increases or...

D&D 5E Ability Score Increases (I've changed my mind.)

It’s been a few pages since it was mentioned last but for those that would like to see floating racial ASIs, I’m curious how that would be perceived if they were attached to class instead of being vague increases. In looking for resources, I came across this nifty module that tries to still...
