    Help me capture my party.

Here's my advice to you... don't do it. Never. That's why I'm currently DMing. The capture DM got voted off the island.

Incompetent DM seeks help with powerful PC

Yup. However in his defense the rules are ambiguous and the DM could rule either way. Either way, it's my advice that you don't play a nerfed character, because it's never fun after that.

A question for super science geeks!

My friends brother is a survivalist. He is really good with a bow, which he hunts with during bowhunting season and can make arrows. My uncle hunts boar with only a knife. Oh, and I (not a survivalist) can make gunpowder from scratch (a hobby really). I don't know what kind of survivalists...

Incompetent DM seeks help with powerful PC

Beef up the other characters. Via duels. NPC's magic gear will compensate. Never take away, just give to others.

    WANTED: Dark Secrets

The Vargos. A family that had been controlled by a mind flayer. The mind flayer in a moment of weakness sired a son. The mind flayer was later found and killed by adventurers. The family is now trying to breed a superior human with all the benefits of a mind flayer but none of the...

    Dwarven Stronghold

Hmm... 1) If it's 3.X DnD you need to build buildings in caverns to protect against falling rocks caused by the earthquake spell or spell like ability. 2) A net work of defenses. Murder holes and the like. 3) A central group that handles defense, like a scry and fry team. 4) A chapel to...

    Penalties besides PC death

This is what I'm trying to get across with that one liner. 1) Don't feel bad about killing the PC's. 2) Death is a learning experience. 3) The players can analyze how they died and then build characters that have a better survivability. 4) By killing them they know the world is a dangerous...

    My first TPK

Now leave their most of their equiment as loot. Tends to soften the blow. Or I say roll 1D6, 1-4 it's there, 5-6 it's not, for each item.

Too many monsters: what to do?

I vote for ease of carry and reference. One critter book per location.

Why isn't every 9th level wizard rich?

Or use the guilds as retail outlets or many other ways. Just spread out your fabication... and don't forget to go off plane or sell to planar merchants. Never forget to cut in your friends for a share or two...

Why isn't every 9th level wizard rich?

So you are spending your money on a tower and on research then? If you don't want to cast spells for gold, that's up to you, just be consistent. Not all wizards use wisdom as a dump stat or are altruistic as you.

How would you interrogate an artifact battleaxe?

Here's my five... 1) Do a Carrot top. Annoy it until the DM breaks. Role-play it. 2) Preach to it until the DM breaks. Role-play it. 3) Bribe it. More gems and jewelry on hilt etc... 4) Find it's psychological weakness and exploit it. 5) Disjunction.

    Real powered armor

And powered armor's maintenance teams will tie up more personnel, making less active combat duty troops. It more than likely be worth it though.

Why isn't every 9th level wizard rich?

DnD is not a medieval economy. With magic and off planar transport, it resembles an early industrial economy. However if you look at the crafting rules, they are so production deficient, fabricate might be needed to supply the basics to the town/city. And if you pick up Moment of Prescience...

    Real powered armor

All right. The first model will be a hangar queen needing, I'm guessing 2 hours of maintenance per hour in the field, and later models maintenance time will go down.

    Who owns SPI games?

Hmm... let me search, Avalon Hill, no... GMT, no... Let's see... Metagaming... no... Task Force Games... no... Victory Games... no... Huh, Imperium, what's that doing in this stack... err... Oh, Far Trader, Stainless Steel Rat, World Killer... There! I know I had some.
