It's against the letter of the rule as well. Rules-as-written, you can't spend inspiration for a re-roll. You have to spend it BEFORE you roll to gain advantage.

I don't think they are overpowered. In my experience, when my players feat stack into these combos that most folk complain about, they end up cripplingly overspecialized, and the gains from those feats hardly measure up against the raw edge in ability scores (or the extra versatility gained...

Poisoned condition. Have it wear off in a few hours, or after a hearty meal. No need to get fancy and complicated with the mechanics.
