Have you been published in Dragon?

I submitted an AWESOME prestige class for the Prestige Class contest. And by "AWESOME" I mean "GOD, this is horrible." I thought the flavor for the character was good, but the mechanics sucked so bad, it sucked out the metaphor I was going to use for how bad it was.

    Gamebreakers

For me the biggest gamebreaker is people (players or DMs) not paying attention. Missing something I said once or twice isn't so bad, but if I'm having to repeat myself to one specific person over and over, that's a problem.

Pathfinder 1E Casino games for Pathfinder

Yeah, the two games I have are Boneyard and Golddiger out of the 3.5 book Book of Challenges, but in the section I took them from, the third game is arm wrestling an Ogre Mage, and since the group's Fighter is a Level 3, I think not. I didn't think of the Wheel of Fortune. That would probably...

Pathfinder 1E Casino games for Pathfinder

Okay, so at my next session, I'm having the group go to a casino/tavern-type place and so far, I have two games for them to play, if they want, but I now have 7 players, so I'd like to have some more games. I don't have a Three Dragon Ante deck or I'd play that. I was thinking of having...

    Artifacts.

The game I'm running is sort of "Warehouse 13 for Pathfinder," where I have the group going from place to place to find magic items and artifacts and retrieve them, storing them in a portable hole until they can return to base and let their boss deal with the artifact. In the last session, one...

Playing a character while DMing. Yes or No?

Back when I was running a 3.5 game, in the beginning, I had a group of three 1st-level characters, so I brought in a PC 3rd-level Dwarven cleric to be an NPC. As the group grew to 9 at one point and we were switching DMs, I switched him back and forth from a PC to an NPC and gave him 1/2 the XP...

    Noob Question

I agree with this. It's compatible enough that I'm able to run adventures designed for 3/3.5 and with only a little adjustment to DCs and HP/AC of enemies due to the PCs being slightly more buff than 3/3.5.

What Should You Be Able to Accomplish in Four Hours?

I'm running a Pathfinder group that has six players (possibly expanding to 8 soon), so honestly, I have no baseline for what to expect to accomplish in four hours. Our sessions supposedly start at 4 pm, but don't start until 5:30 when one of the players can show up and lasts until between 9 and...

    Ravenloft-Your Experiences

This here. I've played with a good DM and it was awesome, but a few years ago, I attempted to bring some Ravenloftian elements into my 3.5 game and to see if the group would be interested in more horror/Ravenloft/Lovecraftian stuff, but the most outgoing members of the group were too busy...

    Good starting adventure

Personally, I used a d20 module called "Frozen Whispers" for my first Pathfinder adventure with the full group. The party goes into the woods to find a hunting lodge during the winter. The journey to the lodge can be an adventure unto itself. One of my players got ambushed by a hunter. Good...

    Sorcerer with Elemental bloodline

Sorry. My intention wasn't to come off as a jerk, it was to try to add emphasis to what I was trying to get across, which was the mechanics of the ability would stay the same, but the appearance would change, which upon further review, isn't what the OP wanted. M'bad. Giving it more thought...

    Sorcerer with Elemental bloodline

Well, you could have it NOT be a ray. Instead of a "ray" of stone, you could throw a handful of rocks. Instead of a ray of water, you could throw water balloons. Fire could be a clump of hot ash and air could be a gust of dust-containing wind.

Brainstorming a new monk archetype: Archon

Personally, I would replace the Diamond Body with the Aura of Menace, with the DC based off of Charisma. But then, my campaigns don't really have a lot of poison in them.

Ah, the stupid things PCs do...

Mine is on myself. My second session of a 3E D&D game, I was the Dwarven cleric (3rd level), so I was awesome beyond awesome. Our party assaulted...something or other and we got our collective keisters handed to us. i had to drag the other three members back to our boat and I had used most of...

Hero Lab - do you use it?

I use Hero Lab, but only the demo. The demo still allows me to create npc/monsters, which I then write down on a 3x5 card, because I don't like having my laptop on the gaming table, as I'm DM. Hero Lab's pretty awesome, though, so I'm thinking about buying it.

    A nasty trick I'm considering

In Lords of Madness (3.5), there's a beholder magic item called a Sphere Mirror. "This large pane of glass measure 10 feet tall by 5 feet wide. The item's name, which seems at odds with it's rectangular shape, actually refers to the spherical shape of a beholder's body. The glass surface of...

Gaming with friends, jerks, and reactions

My first D&D experience was when I was 11 and got invited to my brother-in-law's (sister's husband) group. They were jerks. They were 7 or 8 years older than I was and knew all the rules, while I knew none of them and the group wasn't really interested in explaining things to me. I left after...
