Pathfinder 2nd Edition (no, don't get excited!)

That's true, if you're assuming that: 1) the Wizard and the Fighter are going one-on-one. Odds are they aren't. Both sides will have allies. 2) the Fighter simply stands there and isn't advancing on the mage or isn't using ranged attacks of any kind. That just makes no sense. 4) the Fighter...

Pathfinder 2nd Edition (no, don't get excited!)

Personally, I'd say that there doesn't need to be a 2E Pathfinder, because I like Pathfinder the way it is. Could there be changes made? Of course. Do I really want to buy another edition of rules for a rules system that I already like? No.

    RPGs and mental health issues

I went to Mile-Hi Con (a writing convention) back in October and talked with a gentleman I hadn't met before for a few minutes about gaming. I think his name was Steven, but I don't remember for absolute certain. Anyway, he talked about how he was in the process of creating an RPG setting to...

Pathfinder 1E What are some good Pathfinder podcasts?

One of my personal favorite podcasts (that I didn't see on the list, but I skimmed it quickly) is the 3.5 Private Sanctuary podcast (35privatesanctuary.com). The reason I like it is that when they discuss a topic, whether it's fluff or crunch, they discuss it for both 3.5 and Pathfinder, so...

You win some, you lose some

For my few groups, death is one of those things that's possible, but it still takes the players by surprise. I think they mostly don't like it because they've become attached to their characters. Only one guy (a 3.5 campaign) has been a "sore loser" so far and really, it was his own fault, as...

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

I used to work at Target, so I am completely and utterly unsurprised by this. But then, it doesn't really bother me, either.

Who is this Dragon Magazine artist?

Page 32 says that the article is illustrated by Ben Wooten and it looks like theirs a "BW" on the image itself.

    The Player/GM relationship.

Is there someone else in the group that you trust implicitly? If so, and you think this relationship might lead to a gaming problem for the group, then take that person aside and say, "Me and Susie-Bob are going to try this relationship thing, but I don't want to show her any favoritism. Can...

    Show us your NPC adventurers

Harmony Ghosthonor Not so much an adventurer as someone the NPC might have to come in contact with. She's in prison, so she might end up as a Hannibal Lecter-type villain. I've done 6 podcasts so far creating NPCs, one three-person adventuring party, and most recently a deity. I find this...

Doing some research about gaming, care to help?

So, I took the survey, but FYI, you need to adjust the brackets of how many people are in your group. You have "5 or less" and then "5-8" and the other options are the same way. If possible, add more option as to how long game sessions last, because "All Day" is extremely vague and looks like...

    101 Unusual Adventure Hooks

    36. On their way back into town from the latest adventure, the group finds all traffic through the gate slowed down by a band of Dwarves hard at work uprooting the cobble stones from the road and laying them down to make the road through town straight. If the party tries the other gates, they...

What type of adventuring do you prefer?

I voted "Doesn't Matter." My 3.5 game was all (fairly) short adventures that turned into nothing but hack 'n slash toward the end. My Pathfinder group is currently running three "campaigns," I suppose, as I'm running a module based campaign with an over-arcing story line. We're also playing...

    Anybody else have this problem?

Did you (the DM) talk to him about the issue? The reason I ask is that because you're the DM, he might have blown it off a little, as he knows you're doing your 'job.' If one of the other players says something, it might have a little more impact. Instead of 'the boss' saying something...

Do you create personal side quests for PCs?

I've only done so once and it was a night when everybody seemed to be a little off. Probably not the best night for gaming, but we soldiered on. Nobody had anything they wanted to do and they didn't seem interested in the four plot hooks I gave them, when finally on PC mentioned his dad. I...

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

We don't have many houserules for Pathfinder. I like the few we have, though. First off, at character creation, all "standard equipment" (backpack, bedroll, etc.) are already owned, so the starting money doesn't have to be spent on that stuff. Secondly, every character gets Knowledge...

Pathfinder 1E Good generic Pathfinder modules for levels 1-5?

The second and third adventures I ran for Pathfinder were 'The Song of Fodin' (written for PF) by Necromancers of the Northwest and d20 Dungeon Crawl Classics #24: Legend of the Ripper. Both are generic enough that I was able to easily put them into my campaign world (the 2E Thunder Rift...

As a player, do you have a preferred gender for your GM?

I've never had a female DM and I would love to experience it. The only thing is that I wouldn't want any of the women that I've gamed with to DM. That's based on my view of their role-playing skills. They could be great DMs, but I just don't see it from their RPing.
