D&D 4E Which 4e races do you like mechanically

I don't mind Tieflings, but they aren't a favorite. I'd actually prefer it if they had the Drow darkness racial power... which I might houserule into them, since I wont make Drow available to my players. Anyway, Eladrin are probably my favorite... yes, overlapping Int and Dex isn't amazingly...

    On Gishes.

I don't see a problem with a Wizard/Fighter. I just tried making up a 10th Level Human Wizard with all the Fighter multiclass feats, and he seems pretty good. I gave him a Close Burst encounter power from the Fighter, the initiative boost Utility, and the level 1 Daily power that gives +2 Attack...

    Converting Arcane Archer

I was referring to apprehension over whether Arcane Fork let the spell be cast twice, if I wasn't clear enough. As for the rest, neither the 'my weapons are magic!' thing, nor the death attack, will ever translate well into 4E, and I think your problem is that you're trying to convert every...

    Converting Arcane Archer

The Arcane Bow Implement feature seems too much... just allowing Magical Bows to be used as implements, granting their bonus to both arrows and spells, should be more than enough. Giving a free +2 or what have you is overkill. Imbue Arrow and Arcane Fork sound fine, as long as you don't double...

    Creating my first Encounter..

There is a Level 2 Human minion, The Human Rabble, available for you to use. Just adjusting its level via the monster customization rules are enough to give you whatever you might need. And you have the rules on minions very wrong, it seems. They aren't just weak creatures, but have a set of...

    D&D 4E Everyone's a swordsage; Thoughts on 4E after my first read-through.

The Multiclass Feats and Paragon Path mutliclassing still offer plenty of ways to make an 'Arcane Trickster' type character work. Focus on Dex and Int when assigning stats, grab the Multiclassing feats as they become available(possibly asking your DM if you can get Stealth instead of Thievery...

    "Once per round"

A round is the top of the initiative order to the bottom of it. Once the creature with the lowest initiative has ended its turn, the round ends, and these sort of abilities will renew.

    KotS pre-made character question

It's hard to argue the Cleric's good points... he basically needs a natural 15 to hit anything with his Daily, which is a waste of a power. Not to mention the missing racial feature. The others are decent; not min/maxed, but not awful either. The Rogue though, as stated, is pretty well crafted.

    No Love for the Cleric?

I don't dislike the 4E Cleric, just the KotS Cleric.

    Astral Fire

All the "+1 damage with X energy type" feats are pretty lame... they could have EASILY just made one feat that lets you choose the energy type(s). I mean, they don't stack, and the requirements are ridiculous, so the only real function of having so many is to say, "Hey, look at all the feats...

Stay back! The joy of OAs.

It's not that. It's that he has a feat that allows him an OA when an enemy moves adjacent. Assume that F is the fighter, and M is its opponent. The monster tries to move adjacent, giving the Fighter his OA. Combat Superiority states that said OA stops movement, and following the example that...

    D&D 4E 4E Sample Combat: The Terrasque

...or you could just bump it up several levels, giving it another hundred hp or so, higher defenses(which would've caused several misses), etc.

    The Ninja Warlock

They're completely different bonuses, so yes, racial stacks with training. As for your question, you'd roll stealth. First, you have to beat their passive perception, or 10+their perception. If you do that, they can actively search for you on their turn, this time actually rolling their...

Class of Choice(s)? Not the Paladin

That makes it worse though... the Ranger has one of the most varied builds available, between TWF and using a bow, but even it gets most of its powers shared between the two builds. On average, it seems that you have only one power that is entirely limited to one build or the other, giving you 3...

    The Ninja Warlock

Yeah, you were citing the invisibility rules, not stealth rules.

    D&D 4E Original 4E Monsters

Noted and changed. When I went through the Monster Manual, I wasn't paying attention to creature types as much their powers.

    D&D 4E Original 4E Monsters

I didn't double check, but I assumed things like Pseudodragons and Drakes would fit under magical beast... I could be wrong, and in that case, I'd be more than happy to restrict it to just beasts. As for the two attacks per round... looking at other skirmishers, it seems like they often had an...

    D&D 4E 4E Sample Combat: The Terrasque

"And then the second Tarrasque showed up..." No, seriously, I want to see those PCs fight a second Tarrasque after expending all the resources they did against the first one.

    D&D 4E 4E Sample Combat: The Terrasque

To be fair, Solos usually aren't meant to be fought right off the bat. If the PCs have all their dailies, utilities, action points and healing surges, a solo of equal level isn't much of a threat. It's an average encounter, at best. EDIT: Ninjas! Ninjas everywhere! *ducks*

    Worst Race?

Half-elves seem worst to me, unfortunately. At-will class powers just don't stack well against the other racial powers available, and the powers, rather than the stat boosts, are what will lead my decision.
