D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Brundisi An age and an age ago, the great bronze dragon Milgryandixac founded a nation known as Brundisium in the seaside cliffs of Ahwalo. Brundisium began as a city-state devoted to Milgryandixac, a place of great wealth and amassed fortunes, in truth what he sought to hoard was family, and...

D&D General Psionic species and subspecies, will they make a comeback too?

Inspired by Otyugh? Possibly! Actual Otyugh? Not a snowball's chance. WotC is terrified of large sized PCs on a conceptual level.

D&D General Psionic species and subspecies, will they make a comeback too?

Well! We could look to Lovecraftian mythos for a new abberation-heritage design? I think it's safe to say Cthulhu and the Illithid he spawned are clearly off-limits to avoid any kind of imminent lawsuit from WotC. The other big ones from the "Great Old Ones" range are Hastur and Yig. Yig is...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

They're so easy to make, people should just -do it-! Cultures are so incredibly easy to go bespoke on, too.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Something like... Ghosts of the Wildlands Culture: Your people hide in the old growth forests furthest from civilized lands. Discreet and careful, your people have long excised themselves from the cities and villages near to lakes and coastlines, and have learned to live in harmony with nature...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Currently, sure. And you're not likely to ever see "Ghostwise Halfling" culture because the law suit would be immediate and overwhelming! But if enough people want it you might see a "Serial Numbers Filed Off" version that fits better in a GPG article or something similar.

    D&D 5E 5e Psion+++++thread

Eh... You can have 300+ spells and still have Psions feel different in their own way. You just need to create a different mechanical structure for the use of powers, rather than just making them "More Spells" or "Borrow Spells from Wizard and call it powers" The Esper did not take me two...

D&D 5E Couple new Ideas, gauging interest

Everything I do is an A5e product with 5e compatibility. Though this one might lean a little more 5e-ward with the whole core class restructure thing. Though this one would -probably- break it, since I'd be giving Bards more than 3 Archetype Abilities. I guess I'd probably have to redo all the...

D&D 5E Couple new Ideas, gauging interest

Also looking at giving the Bard, Warlock, and Wizard "Revivify but Weird". Wizards get it -late- and catch a gem in a gemstone they can put into a construct. Warlocks get it early and it just straight up makes you undead. And then Bards get to do an epic song and drag their Chorus of friends...

D&D (2024) Psionics: What Do You Want?

You're limited in how many long rests you can take in a day, however. So the DM's answer should be "No." Or, better yet "You don't have time because things are still happening!"

D&D (2024) Psionics: What Do You Want?

I went with the noetic "Limit Break" You expended your Psychic Focus (a strong ability for retaining Psi Dice) to temporarily gain two small (1d4) psi dice. You could then use them to augment powers as you like, but your Psychic Focus was expended until you took a short rest to recover it, and...

D&D (2024) What Should a Psion Be Able To Do?

Just throwing that out there, not that I expect you to read it. But lemme try to put it another way: In Sumerian myth, there is no "Magic". Only Power. The Gods had power, monsters had power, and some mortals had power. Inanna, Goddess of Love and War, had the power to turn men into women and...

D&D 5E Couple new Ideas, gauging interest

So I'm looking at doing some new spells and design around the core spellcasting classes to make them more mechanically distinct... and I had a few ideas I wanted to toss out to get opinions on. 1) New spell components. Yes. We have V,S,M... but what about P and C? P would be "Partner". Spells...

D&D (2024) What Should a Psion Be Able To Do?

"Magic" covers everything supernatural or not-normal to our world for some folks. And that's okay. In most stories and settings, that's all there is. It doesn't mean, however, you cannot have a setting with multiple types of power. Superhero Comics, for example, have weird science...

D&D (2024) What Should a Psion Be Able To Do?

Sure. Or not. Depends entirely on your definition of a Wizard and what they're capable of. For you, it's everything. For me? Not so much. And definitely not in the same way.

D&D (2024) Psionics: What Do You Want?

I was thinking the Sorcerer should use Spell Points and have the ability to sacrifice hit dice to recover spell points, directly, instead of hit points, actually. To represent the "Body Fuel" aspect a lot of characters go for. Which would reward Sorcerers with high Charisma and Constitution and...

D&D (2024) Psionics: What Do You Want?

... so... coldest hot take on record 'cause I've made it evident, before: I hate that the caster classes have been homogenized to the degree that they have. Sorcerers and Wizards should have different spell lists. Some overlap, sure. But largely distinct. With Wizards getting lots of extra...
