ready action vs silent still spell

I asked this before and you did not answer hong. I was just wondering b/c you said to DnD Rule Machine that you should see your earlier posts. So with everything out here I would like a full explanation and none of this Okay?

ready action vs silent still spell

Sorry hong but it looks like you don't understand AoO. PHB p 117 Attacks of Opportunity: You threaten the area next to you, even when it's not you action. An enemy that takes certain actions while in a threatened area provokes an attack of opportunity from you. As an archer you do not...

ready action vs silent still spell

PHB p 85 Still Spell: A still spell can be cast with no somatic components. PHB p 151 Somatic Component: A somatic component is a measured and precise movement of the hand or some other part of the body. Therefore if there is no Somatic Component there is no measured and precise movement of...

ready action vs silent still spell

What would give the wizard away to the archer? And what would be the DC of the Spot? And how did you calculate it? I am not trying to be an ass here, but I know that this will be most likely be up to the DM. But I like to base my rules on existing rules and I also like to be able to explain...

ready action vs silent still spell

And just to add, what would you base the DC of the spot check which in the PHB on pg 74 states...."The Spot skell is used primarily to detect characters or creatures who are hiding. Typically, Spot is opposed by the Hide check of the creature trying not to be seen."

ready action vs silent still spell

Okay! Sorry for not being specific. What is this archers good eyesight seeing if the wizard is casting a STILL AND SILENT SPELL! So an archer just needs good eyesight to ID spells, but a wizards needs to make a spellcraft check @ DC 15 + the spells level to ID the spell. Does that mean if your...

ready action vs silent still spell

How would the archer know the spell has been cast? And if you could state the rule you were using to assume that I would like to know where it is?

ready action vs silent still spell

To counterspell any spell the person counterspelling would have to know that the person is casting, and then role a successful spellcraft check. The spellcraft skill states (PHB p74) "DC 15 + spell level - identify a spell being cast (you must see or hear the spells verbal or somatic...

ready action vs silent still spell

If the spell was silent and still how would the archer know he was casting? For argument sake lets say he is casting mage armor to protect himself. He has not moved and/or said anything and the armor is invisible how does the archer know he has taken an action at all? And even if the wizard...

How do you keep your familiar alive?

SO true Brown. I had an NPC wizard that spied on my last group with his familiar b/c they were staying in a cheap inn with lots of rats b/c it was on the waterfront. They had no idea that they were being spied on and got really pissed b/c they thought there was no way that he could no what they...

    Keeping the party together.

Wow 8 or 9 players is a lot and I think that running a game that size is great fun b/c of the RPing that happens. But jester is right I always think that 2 levels lower than the average party level is the way to go.

    The shield spell and grappling/tumbling

The shield spell gives the caster 3/4 cover. So if you were going to tumble through it I don't think that it would be anymore difficult than tumbling through the same area with a fighter carrying a tower shield (which gives full cover). And because the DC for tumbling through an opponents...

How do you keep your familiar alive?

I think that the weasel familiar is a great familiar to have. Think about this. The wizard being captured and the weasel is up his sleave, and during the search of his items the familiar can run all through the wizards robes, untill he is tied up. At that point he can come out of the robes...

    Deathwatch usage?

Yeah I just saw the "(alive with 4 or more hit points)," SO I would have to say you could detect anyone, b/c it would seem the spell thinks everyone is fighting off death. DAMN! That is a good spell. Why is it 1st level?

    Deathwatch usage?

Seems like the spell would detect anything living in its range as long as it was fighting off death, 4hp or less. But if it was full health than no you would not be able to detect it. I would use the rules similar to the Detect Magic spell. So the more rounds of concentration the more info the...

    Broken spells?

I don't want to sound to dumb here, but I don't think that it can be avoided. What do you guys mean that Haste is broken? Is it just b/c it is too powerful for the spells level, or is it that there is something wrong with the spell rules wise?

    Quiver of Ehlonna...?

I think that you have it right AuraSeer. The quiver does not recognize what you are doing and you can only put the 60 arrows in the quiver. Thats it. The players in my game would not get anymore arrows in it.

    Players keeping stats secret

Hey Everyone! First time poster here! I have to say, as much as keeping things secret can lead to good RPing it can also lead to a group that is more interested in finding out about each other that the adventure at hand. If you are "takin' care of business" down in a dungeon and you don't...
