    Small Beginnings

I first fell in love with the idea of minis when playing a new game called Axis & Allies back in 1984. Started using them on and off in my AD&D games not long after. Nothing was more satisfying than rolling into Russia with giant stack of tanks!

    D&D 5E You can't necessarily go back

To suggest that 4E 1st level HP inflation is a little higher than than previous editions is like saying Greece's inflation and jobless rates might be a little high lol. a 1st level 4E Fighter with a 16 con has 115 HP without even trying to optimize that is way beyond a little higher than any...

GMs: What (across all editions) was your favorite adventure to RUN?

3 way tie The original Ravenloft Dwellers of the Forbidden City Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth Hmm, it would seem I really like the I series modules lol.

    D&D 4E What 5E needs to learn from 4E

While overall it was a good list I find this one to be a shocker. I'm not going to sit here and tell anyone I long for the days of fighter/barbarian/rogue/hearthguard/favored soul multilclassing, yet I find 4E multiclassing to be so lackluster it should be renamed to meaninglessclassing. There...

    D&D 5E D&D Next Q&A 9/20

I think you are really onto something here. If these 3 variations can play side by side I believe it would greatly enhance the probability of success for Next.

    AD&D 1st edition and 2nd edition differences?

I have a vague memory of how hit points were handled changing. Something along the lines of changing at what negative HP value death happens at, the exact details escape me ATM. It might have even removed negative hit points its been too many years...

    Secretive Behavior and Conspiracy Theories

You just better hope if they come and get you they don't bring you to a FEMA death camp ;)

D&D 4E My first taste of 4e, and what it means for 5e.

I'm not seeing a lot of blame that can be laid at the feet of 4E here to be quite honest. I think that same mix of DM style, lack of player experience, and lack of cooperation woud have made for a bad night in any edition IMHO YMMV yadda yadda...

Monte Cook's Numenera Approaches Half Million Dollars

I can't escape the feeling that 5E would have ended up a better product with him involved. A voice to balance out edition bias of the staff if you will.

D&D 5E With Respect to the Door and Expectations....The REAL Reason 5e Can't Unite the Base

As a devouted Sanbox style DM this is a total fallacy. 1. Sandbox style DMing places no such strictures on adventures having time limits this is totally on you. 2. Sandbox style dictates players choose which adventures to pursue not what the pacing is beyond the players walking away from it...

    D&D 5E You can't necessarily go back

Can't xp you but yes I am like minded on this issue. I'm looking forward to seeing how the every magic item is unique approach of 5E unfolds too.

    D&D 5E You can't necessarily go back

Can't xp you but too prefer the 1E approach to 3 or 4E assumptions about magic items and magic item stores. It was an "evolution" of the game I have zero appreciation for beyond the obvious "some people like it".

D&D 5E What kind of subraces should tieflings have?

Very true, oddly enough I have seen some cambions look a lot more human than tieflings, go figure.

D&D 5E What kind of subraces should tieflings have?

Never heard of it but it sounds really cool! I think I'd want another name for it besides tiefling though. Then again I'd probably want to call the demonic version a cambion so it's probably just me. Still I'm already thinking of some cool character concepts for a human with a rakshasa ancestor...

How Would Like the Rules Modules Organized?

If the purpose of the modules are to help folks emulate their favorite edition or playstyle then having them prepackaged might be the way to go. They could have a list of modules that together emulate a grim and gritty campaign and another package for super heroic campaigns etc. I think they...

    D&D 4E [Continuation 4e] - a manifesto

Logically that makes sense one could even make the case that any daily that hits should be an autokill striker or not. However the bigger question might be what the implication is for play experience. Is it ever satisfying for creatures to go from full health to dead in one hit except perhaps...

    D&D 4E [Continuation 4e] - a manifesto

I recognize that they could simply be left out the question is how could they be altered to potentially be a satisfying part of the solution in speeding up non "boss" fights in 4.x. I didn't post in here to bash 4E elements come on people!

    D&D 4E [Continuation 4e] - a manifesto

minions and faster combat As a player i never cared for them. If i were playing a controller and a wipe out a bunch with a single spell i could see how that might be satisfying. Playing a defender and using an encounter or even worse a daily to kill a minion is not satisfying imho. I've seen...
