    This. There is a wand in the HotDQ that also has the line "You can use this even if you do not cast spells." So until the DMG is officially out and thee basic rules updated, this is the goto line. So simply... anyone can use a wand.

    HotDQ is pretty much a railroad... it all starts in Greenest just by going there. Sure it could be any town, as the next few episodes are location agnostic... but the travel near the middle of the adventure would have to be modified... but its certainly possible to flip the entire locations...

    I agree. But from what I've seen, most magical arms/armor carries a minimum of a +1 bonus... I would assume because it is magical after all. But until the DMG we wont know if just special abilities are possible without a base bonus.

    Did they defeat the cultists in Thundertree? Kill or drive off the dragon? Have an encounter where some new cultists, some guards and a leader type cultist come to Phandalin to 'scout' it for looting. Have the players interact/ capture/ defeat these cultists and learn of their plans...

    My guess is we will see the FRCS by mid/late 2015. If Eberron and related products (AP's, adv league) etc make it into the 2016 slot ill be happy... but I wouldn't count on it until 2017.

    Remember if you expend all charges, when the wand would recharge you roll a d20... on a 1 it crumbles to dust.

    There is a wand in Hoard of the Dragon Queen (not listed in supplement) that can be used by anyone. So we've seen 2 magic wands, both usable by anyone... pretty favorable odds.

    Note that ANYONE can now use wands... So that gives fighters something else. But in playing through the starter set, and reading through the first adventure (HotDQ), it seems that casters are getting the better loot. There are staves and wands that seem better than even the strongest magic...

    True enough... however, in Eberron, Dragonmarked individuals tend to be the exception not the rule. While normally this would work, a feature that's used by the 1% seems better placed outside of background.

    I think I remember there being a feat in 3.5 where Warforged could receive full healing, but had to give up their natural armor bonus. I think the 1/2 healing reinforces the construct part of their heritage. Without it, they're just humans in armor suits.

    I think a feat granted at first level reflects the inherent programming, or design purpose of the creature. They were built for a reason.. not just to be the same as every other warforged... so this should be reflected in something they can innately do out of the gate. I think a feat...

    I'm voting for +1 Con and +1 to any other ability score. Feat at first. Base AC 13 (modifiable through feat based upgrades). No need to eat/sleep/breathe. 1/2 healing from cure spells.

    I agree to a point... however, I think basic Dragonmark House membership backgrounds are too generic to qualify as a good, encompassing background... perhaps allow dragonmark houses to be a bonus background choice. The choice to take the dragonmark feats is optional of course.
