Musings on the "I Win" Button

No experience with Maze eh? It's not particularly creative to use a spell exactly as it's described. Forcecage has two versions, one of which allows spells to pass right through. -Q.

Toys to be used with our Games?

I just ordered this bad boy, believe it or not it's a $20ish toy from a french company called Papo. The detail is amazing for the price, the jaw moves as well. At 4.5" tall and 10" long it's a bit big for an Allosaurus at normal game scale, but it's far from an unwieldy size. They also make some...

How were you introduced to RPGs?

Saw some guys playing basic D&D in Junior High. Came across them in the library and asked what they were doing, they asked me to play and I was hooked. Within a month I had taken over as DM. I still get that chill of expectation and it keeps me coming back for more. -Q.

Do you lament the lack of third-party or fan material?

I was initially somewhat unhappy at the lack of support, but looking back at 3.5 I realized the only third party stuff I was actually using was stealing bits and pieces from adventures I read, something I can still do. The same thing applies with fan created material. If you see a good idea, use...

For everything you've done on behalf of gamers, thanks. -Q.

    demogorgon

In my old 2E campaign Demogorgon had a huge human following, significantly dwarfing the death cults of Orcus. I liked the idea of having truly degenerate religions like those depicted classic sword & sorcery novels with human sacrifice & orgies taking place in the same temple (maybe even a...

Boxed set versus Hardcover - FIGHT!

I like hardcovers, but box sets stir strong feelings of nostalgia. All my favorite old games came in boxes. There's no cure for a broken heart or a crushed corner. -Q.

    Which Roleplay Hmmm?

Runequest is a personal favorite, but I'd recommended 4E as well. If you really like some of the features of the RQ system I suggest checking out Chaosiums Basic Roleplaying, it's displaced GURPS as my all purpose system of choice. -Q.

Every go through your books and find extras?

I have quite a bit I've inherited from ex-roommates and friends who've moved. I keep duplicates of all kinds separate but I think I'd prefer to give them away to selling them. Oddly sentimental. -Q.

Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder] Planning on switching to Pathfinder?

I'd play Pathfinder if someone I knew was running it, but for my own campaign I'm sticking with 4E. -Q.

D&D 3E/3.5 A list of 3e problems and how they were tackled in PF

The honest answer to most of your questions is "They really didn't fix that." Pathfinder is D&D 3.55. If you find these things a problem ( as I did for some of them during my last 3.5 campaign) you're going to have to fix them yourself if you want to use Pathfinder. For myself, I'd rather play...

    Ultimatedm.com: Tomb of Horrors Questions

I ran the original back in 1985 with four people using fleshed out versions of the characters in the back of the module. Each player ran two characters and thanks to pure guile four survived to make it all the way to the crypt. Then to my great amusement they couldn't leave the demi-liches skull...

    Defining "old school" by vote

To me "old school" is those heady days when no one really knew what they were doing. Middle school kids opening the old red box and rolling up a haphazard collection of dungeon delvers, pure nostalgia. Trying to recreate that feeling is like trying to recreate your first kiss (though unlikely to...

What game system have you tried that made you go WOW!

The only one that comes to mind was 1st edition Paranoia, from the moment I saw it at the local gaming/stage magic store and thought it sounded hilarious. It played ten times better than what I expected and going through "Me and My Shadow Mark V" we had to stop several times to let the laughter...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder First Print Run Sold Out

I'm not surprised at all. I'm playing 4E now and loving it, but I've kept the subscriptions to Pathfinder and added a subscription to the RPG books. The quality Paizo puts into it's products make them a joy to read and a huge inspiration no matter what you're playing. Well done and bravo! -Q.

    Schrödinger, The Flux-Warped Kittie

The cat brings back dying rodents, which disturbingly have the faces of people the PCs have known who have died. They berate, beg and scream at the party as the cat plays with them. If rescued, they appear as normal rodents, but my have some slight trait associated with the NPC they appeared as...

    World Size

Natural satellites don't have a specific size limit, if the sizes of the two objects are large enough they are considered a double body (like Pluto and Charon). The largest moons in our solar system are around 5,000 km in diameter, so an Earth-sized satellite is not beyond the pale by any means...
