    Why Homebrew?

I've been homebrewing since 1984, the world I've created is a part of me, it's a reflection of my psyche and I love the idea of other people experiencing it. I can't imagine enjoying another world any where near as much. -Q.

    Coinage in your Games?

In my homebrew with a little effort I managed to get the players to use the common coin names (bronze squire, silver noble, gold sovereign, Mithral Dragon). By mid point of the campaign the terms had become interchangeable. Ancient and foreign coins became something of a novelty. When a giant's...

New D&D Mini Fails and then...

Corporate sets the numbers, but essentially correct. In reality it's unlikely there is more than a handful of people at Hasbro's corporate who have any idea what WotC is putting out, it's simply too small a chunk of their total assets. I work for GE and I can tell you it's a long...

    How is Palladium doing?

Our local Barnes & Noble moved locations to a larger store recently and I was surprised to read in the paper that their entire stock had been returned and entirely new stock was being ordered. I was curious to see if the new store would bring a better RPG section, as at the old store it was...

    Changeover Poll

All 4E, we're done with 3.5 for good, even the common hold books have hit the shelves at the local used book store. One of my players wants to run a superhero campaign, but he can't decide between M&M and Champions. -Q.

    Book Prices...

I recall buying all three core books in the space of a month at Lionel Playworld in 1983, with the Fiend Folio and Deities and Demigods following before the end of summer. Pretty much swallowed up my summer allowance and my birthday money, but I was thrilled at the acquisition. -Q.

    Bane? Alternative names for deities.

In the 3.5 version of my homebrew Tiamat was called "The Crushing Hand" playing off the five heads-five fingers motif. None of her worshipers would dare utter her real name while outside a temple for fear of drawing her attention. For the 4E rework I decided to dump as much of the earthly...

What was so bad about the Core 2e rules? Why is it the red-headed stepchild of D&D?

Just to refresh my memory I dragged my original 2E books out of the archives. They still look a chevy owners manual from the last twenty years, I keep expecting to see an illustration of a man in chain mail changing a tire. I never enjoyed the system itself until the players option books came...

    How organize Dungeon Tiles?

I have them in plastic fishing lure boxes Wallymart carried some years ago, never found anything quite as perfect. I have them sorted by enviorment, shape with the more interesting side up. -Q.

    4e & Internet Sales

I hit the 50% mark. I'm weary of buying books without a chance to peruse them. Any trip to a book store might yield one to five purchases but I can browse Amazon for a couple of hours and buy nothing. -Q.

    [WotC_Logan] Why is Tiamat Huge?

Another tempest in a teapot. Allowing your imagination to be weighed down by the shackles of aesthetic expectation is lame. After seeing the picture of Tiamat by WAR one of players concluded a miniature for it would be the size of a recliner and wouldn't fit on our gaming table. I responded I...

    Your Second Love

I played a number of games after we first tired of AD&D, but most of them were unsatisfying. Then Villains and Vigilantes came along and for the first time I was able to dabble in game design. Quirky and hard to balance, it was nevertheless very playable. Even though we switched to Champions...

Would you like to see commemorative editions of the core rules of all older editions?

Making PDF versions available is a great idea, filling the bargain tables up at Book's-a-Million is not. -Q.

    Disappointed in 4e

Selling your 3E books might not have been a bad idea, perhaps you will find the final version of Pathfinder, C&C, True 20 or some other game more to your liking. If not, I'm sure you'll find the books cheap somewhere, hang in there. -Q.

My favourite published campaign setting would be...

If I had to pick one, it would be Glorantha (3rd edtion Runequest). There's just something intriguing to me about the world and it's cultures. The strong classical era feeling to the supplaments appeals to me. -Q.
