QUick question - Push effects do not to be in line right?

That railing vs. forced movement is a good rule of thumb, I had a similar situation during a fight at an inn. Use of forced movement through the balcony railing, I counted the railing as an extra square of movement, so it took 2 squares of slide or push to get someone against the railing over it.

    Firemans Alchemy.

I agree, but I think you had a legitimate idea there with your Alchemical fire-fighting item. Especially during seiges where your ritual caster might be doing way more important things than fire-control, like scrying or healing. Arming a couple peasant bridages with a few pouches of "Uncle...

What to do About NAD Deficcency?

I think your math is solid, based upon the experiences of the characters in your campaign. For my own campaign I think the "+1 to F/R/W defenses at levels 5, 15, 25" is sufficient. But looking through the Paragon Tier monsters, alot of the NAD attacks are just encounter powers. That means...

Book of Distant Stars - a monster manual by Mesh Hong

Happy to review it MH... Between the Book of Distant Stars and the Critter Cache 6: Lovecraftian Bestiary, I've been having some really evil ideas for some new adventures. Feel free to pity my poor Players... muahaha

    Anyone play an assassin yet?

Anyone check out the Podcast by Mike Mearls and Jeremy Crawford about the Assassin yet? Was just posted this morning on the WotC Site The Assassin and Primal Power PODCAST

Book of Distant Stars - a monster manual by Mesh Hong

Just wanted to bump the thread and mention that I wrote a blog about the Book of Distant Stars to make sure more people hear about it. I'm really enjoying the material and am working on a couple adventures already for my 4e campaigns. Thanks MH!

    D&D 4E 4E monk am i missing something?

I too would like to see a ranged attack - perhaps based upon throwing weapons like knives or shuriken. I noticed that in the Character builder, you can apply all manner of magical enchantments to a Monk Unarmed Strike. Not sure how that makes sense - handwraps I guess?

    D&D 4E 4E monk am i missing something?

Well was more of wishful thinking on my part... we'll probably have to wait for a Psionic Powers book to feed all those PHB3 psionic based classes

    Multiple vulnerabilities

I see your point but am unhappy with the interpretation of the all (5) - since all (5) would suggest that they are vulneralbe to all effects, it would seem like "double-dipping" to say that fire (5) and all (5) mean you take +10 from a fire attack. I see how it works logically, but at what...

    D&D 4E 4E monk am i missing something?

One of the feats I'd like to see, that would probably increase dps a bit too, would be something like a Proficiency feat that allowed adding certain weapons to their list of "monk" weapons. Given what you see in anime and asian cinema, the monk weapons offered in the current version is a...

    D&D 4E Cthulhu in 4e

Has anyone checked out the Critter Cache: Lovecraftian Bestiary yet? I really liked it, so much in fact I just posted a review on it this morning here. Really impressive and creepy stuff in that supplement.

    Red Caps (Powries)

Awesome advice... much appreciated. I think I edited out the Leader power from the Thane as I was concerned that he had way too much on his plate, but as both an elite and leader type, I guess that's ok for him to have a longer list. I like MH's alteration to the Crooks... that is definitely...

    Red Caps (Powries)

I have been doing more work on Feywild creatures for my blogsite, and worked on the Red Caps. Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions folks may have concerning these nasty little goblins.

    Rituals as New Magic Items

The only Ritual i've tried putting in a magic item is Sending - the PCs in my "Ebon Cabal" campaign have rings that let them cast a (daily) Sending Ritual to communicate with their mentor in the Cabal, or to each other. It's really just a plot device to allow missions to trickle down from my...

    PCs as Children

In medieval society, a 16 yo would already an adult by 2 years. If you're going to do children, you'd have to start fairly young. We're talking 6-8yo, because anything after that and the kids have already been apprenticed into their vocation.

    Crouching

So something like: Crouch - You grant combat advantage to enemies making melee attacks. - You gain +1 Bonus to all defenses against ranged attacks. - You take a -1 penalty to melee attack rolls. - You move at one-half your speed. - You can drop to crouch or stand from a crouch as a minor action.

Why is the material relam even important? ( reading about planes )

Actually, the material plane has the greatest resource of all - worship -entities on the prime empower beings on other planes by their devotion. The reason you don't have mass havoc, in most world settings, is due to some cosmological agreement or binding made at the start of creation...

    # of dragons in the world per type

Sounds like a draconic pyramid scheme :P I think Klaus hit the proportions right tho - younger dragons are most numerous and would be the ones most likely encountered by adventurers. Older dragons would be more rare due to dragon competition both inside and outside species (ie. chromatic vs...

How meticulous can the planning be in a six-second combat round?

That's the hard part to figure out - will your group view your clocking them as draconian or agree with you and roll with a speedier process to add realism? I've DM'd to all kinds of groups, and while, as the DM you control the flow ofthe game, make sure that this level of detail is...
