I just thought I would give you a break from posting for a while, so I set up a bot.

add 1/2 level to ability checks? What? Why?

One of the basic design philosophies is that you won't need specific classes. Part of that goal is realized by everyone having some level of ability in every skill. If you negate that, you are moving back towards a required class in a party.

add 1/2 level to ability checks? What? Why?

Frequently? 'Twice' is frequently? And fail. To the point of making things worse.

The new FAQ and armor proficiency

I would say that if a successful game hinges on how the characters are equipped, there is something very wrong.

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

The calculations were made under a model that is already very favourable to the players. There are two ways to go from there: Even more advantageous, and less advantageous. I believe more advantageous has been touched on, if briefly. It makes skill challenges rather pointless. Logically...

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

Most people have pointed out that even without the +5, the math is still pretty bad. Are you implying that players like to succeed? Which is, in no way, facilitated by the skill challenge system over just using skills. Rules != guide. If it were a guide, it would be in an optional section...

    Paper Minions - WT?

That isn't even remotely my argument. Perhaps you should brush up on some math, because your statements don't add up. HAW HAW

    Paper Minions - WT?

She doesn't have hit points, it's a movie. Also, it was more than ten years after the first movie. Getting shot once in ten years of a skirmish war is pretty damn incompetent on the enemy's part.

    Paper Minions - WT?

I may have mentioned this already, but it was a movie.

    Paper Minions - WT?

We know exactly how many hit points they lost. Zero. It's a story. They didn't have hit points to begin with. They would have been killed by a blaster to the face exactly like any stormtrooper. But the stormtroopers never hit them. That is script immunity in action, not hit points. That...

    Paper Minions - WT?

No, they don't. In exactly one movie out of three, at the very end, for dramatic purposes, Leia was shot in the arm. Other than that, there was absolutely no danger of the stormtroopers landing a shot on the heroes. Because they were never a credible threat. Which is really the meat of this...

Rituals take too long and creative casting is dead

Agreed. Besides, these stories seem to indicate that the entire party went everywhere together. Need to sneak into the castle? Don't send just the rogue, we will all go! We should infiltrate the bandit camp to get more information. Nah, don't worry fighter, we will all go with you! I mean...

    Divine Challenge's Ongoing Damage

So, that would include an opportunity attack? Or, it it has multiple attacks, its turn is immediately after the paladin, so it swipes at the paladin with its weakest attack, then blasts the rest of the party. Also, the paladin mark has a divine element to it, but how would a regular fighter...

So why can ANYONE use rituals?

My German is very rusty, but here is what Babelfish says, which is how I remember the limited amount I can remember goes: Sie sind der ganzer selbe! Of course, that is the polite version (Sie). If you are on a more personal level with the person you are talking to: Du bist der ganzer selbe...

    Why the focus on criticals?

So, what were those crazy numbers I was coming up with? :)

    Why the focus on criticals?

Of course, but the point is: Higher dice are not automatically better for open-ended rolls. Typically, smaller dice will provide as good results. I am not the expert in math, but: I would be quite interested.

    Why the focus on criticals?

Except, the higher your damage dice, the less likely you will get additional rolls. One of the problems with open-ended dice systems. Overall, if I recall the numbers, the end results are somewhat drastic. Back-of-envelope calculations follow (correct me if these are inaccurate): 4 rolls: d4...
