D&D 5E Odd things in the rules that bug you?

The cave troll fight in the "Fellowship of the Ring" movie made me realize that lots of little things happen in combat that are not covered by D&D rules and that hoping to hit the monster once every six seconds is preposterous.

D&D 5E Odd things in the rules that bug you?

A 30-second round makes a lot of sense and doesn’t require any major rule changes.

And then one second later I move, and you don’t.

D&D 5E Odd things in the rules that bug you?

    Because you’re invisible?

D&D 5E It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

Like The Andromeda Strain? Finding Nemo? Rendez-vous with Rama? That’s awfully reductive.

D&D General Most common NPC/sidekick for a party

The most common NPC sidekick is Tenser's floating disc.

D&D 5E Odd things in the rules that bug you?

The whole "invisible but not hidden" deal is something I can’t quite wrap my head around.

    D&D 5E About the artwork...

For me it’s the opposite. The older I get and the more I learn about art, the more impressed I am with the quality and diversity of art on display in these books.

    D&D 5E About the artwork...

Or, as I would say it, most D&D artists’ work oozes with style and personality, but some of them are painfully bland and academic.

    D&D 5E About the artwork...

It’s not. Comparing the work of a professional artist to something an untrained kid would make, however, is insulting and childish. There are more dignified ways to express an opinion.

D&D 5E At what level does play become "high level"?

    Right after you stop playing.
  14. The Mirrorball Man

D&D 5E As a Player, why do you play in games you haven't bought into?

This. Roleplaying games are a workocracy (might not be a word): those who do the work get to call the shots. It means that most of the time, the DM has the last word. It also mean that a player who gets creative, writes a whole backstory for her character, makes the effort to engage with the...

D&D 5E It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

Dice are there to tell stories, they are not there to replace stories. If you’re starving, maybe you will find strange luminescent fruits in the wild. Eating them will save your life but it may give you strange hallucinations. If you’re lost, you may find the ruins of an ancient city, which...

    D&D 5E About the artwork...

    It’s fine.

I agree but I feel that D&D may be moving in a different direction.

D&D 5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

Hey, why not? But no one is arguing in favor of getting rid of rules. The argument is that racial categories are problematic and limit player choice. If limiting player choice is bad, then it’s logical to get rid of any category that does.
