D&D 3E/3.5 Assassin in 3.5: How did I miss this?

Yep, it's pretty painful. Babaus can actually get into Blackguard without any class levels if you swap their feats around, IIRC. So something like Babau Blackguard3/AssassinX is pretty groovy. Plenty of sneak attacking, 2nd-level Blackguard spells, Assassin abilities, etc. There are a couple of...

D&D 3E/3.5 Assassin in 3.5: How did I miss this?

I concur. I'm a fan of the Babau Blackguard/Assassin setup, personally. Sneak Attack + Divine Sacrifice + Divine Might + Wraithstrike + Power Attack = Fun (for me).

    Greatest cameos?

Chuck Norris and Lance Armstrong from Dodgeball. Hilarious.

    Al-Qarin: Into the Desert (3-1-24)

Excellent, as always. I really enjoy the different flavor of this story hour.

    more than one dodge buddy?

To make a comment that doesn't regard taking feats multiple times... FYI, the Cause Overreach ability of Elusive Target works against anyone, not just your Dodge buddy. Diverting Defense is the one that only works against a Dodge buddy. So you can run past those guys and if they all miss, you...

    The 4400 season 2 is over---discuss

Perhaps there are distinct factions from the future who have different agendas?

Dungeons & Dragons: 2. Premiering on the Sci Fi Channel on October 8th.

I think it's just a matter of preference and style, really. I'm not saying either way is correct or incorrect, just what I prefer. OOC, I'll do exactly what you say: "I cast detect magic." In character, however, I may say something like "Do you have a spell that can detect magic?" I suppose it's...

How often do deal with AoOs?

I concur wholeheartedly. Put me in the "every round" category. My friends and I tend to work well together as a team, so we'll have some people drawing AoOs to allow other people to do things. One of my characters is a very mobile Dervish with a very high AC, plus Elusive Target, Combat Reflexes...

Dungeons & Dragons: 2. Premiering on the Sci Fi Channel on October 8th.

Didn't they specifically refer to them as ? I disliked how they always referred to spells by their proper name. For example

Disconnect between stat blocks and some abilities

That's one of the things I despite about the new statblock format. Also the fact that they got rid of Atk vs. Full Atk, and a few other bits. I'm still using the old format for most of my work, except when I'm told I have to use the new format (for Mark of Heroes, for example). Bill

    Has the RPGA failed?

Yup, sounds about right. I just didn't want people to think that the small handful of paid RPGA employees were spending all their time writing adventures instead of administrating the organization. While SRM (RPGA Content Developer is his title, IIRC) has written a few adventures, the majority...

    Has the RPGA failed?

Not entirely true. Most of the LoGR and MoH mods are written by freelancers, rather than paid RPGA staff.

    Has the RPGA failed?

Devoutly Apathetic: Well, if you are Jonathan, reply to your darn emails sometime. ;)

    Has the RPGA failed?

Okay, here's the primary purpose of the RPGA: marketing. It exists to run games and introduce people to D&D. That's pretty much the overriding goal in a nutshell. I write adventures for Living Greyhawk and Mark of Heroes, and I tend to put things from new products into what I write. In LG that...

    Has the RPGA failed?

Okay, you're from Syracuse and you have a low opinion of SRM... I have a feeling I know you, but I can't decide which person you are. :D Jonathan?

Reverse of Power Attack, Would this be balanced?

Also, with rapiers and the like (any finessable weapon you can power attack with), I don't see anything that would prevent them from taking the penalty to damage (-5 for a rapier, as I understand it) and getting +5 to hit. And then Power Attacking for 5 two-handed, getting +10 to damage. So +5...

Piratecat's up-to-date story hour (updated on 8/10, come game with PCat at GenCon!)

Assuming you're talking about the "True Death" ability of the Hunter of the Dead PrC, here's what it says: "Undead slain by a hunter of the dead of 5th level or higher, either by melee attack or spells, can never rise again as undead. They are forever destroyed." Of course, if Blackjack and PC...

High-level "averages" for AC, defenses, etc

FYI, I'm basing the following numbers on two of my characters. One is a Clr6/Radiant Servant8/Contemplative3 of Pelor with the standard 4 domains (17th-level total). The other is a Bbn1/Ftr6/Ex-Mnk2/Dervish6 (15th-level total). Attacks: The cleric can get to the mid 40s to hit, with 5 attacks a...

    Interesting Class + Monster Combos...

Oh, and the one other one I really liked: a half-red dragon mongrelfolk monk/assassin. Servant and child of a red dragon who was sent to assassinate a number of PCs.

    Interesting Class + Monster Combos...

One of my absolute favorites was the Grbleringbeshen, Shadow Gibbering Mouthers advanced to 12-HD and given 12 levels of Rogue. They were personal pets of Vecna and instead of lots of mouths, had hundreds of tiny clawed hands. They spat their acid from constantly weeping tear ducts. I tend to...
