Where did I see a Random Book Generator?

Not sure if this is what you saw, but the standard install of TableSmith includes both a "Book Titles" table for generating...well, book titles :) as well as a "Book Descriptions" table that generates...OK, you the idea. This particular table is due for a major update in the near future as well...

    Is Software next?

First of all, the standard IANAL. Regardless of what's recently been said, I don't think this changes the status of the D&D software that's currently out there since - technically - I believe that if something is derivative of the D&D rules, it's in violation of WotC's copyright. The d20...

    Mapping Utility

For world maps, I'd recommend Campaign Cartographer 2 or Fractal Mapper. Both have adherents on these boards that can expand upon their features. I've used both, and both have their pros and cons (currently I'm using CC2 for my world maps, though I do only about 1/3 there and the rest in Paint...

Re: tablesmith That's not a bad idea; I'll start looking at something like that when I get a chance.

    What applications do you use?

Re: Re: Re: ... It's up on the Utilities page at Mythosa.net now (the "Campaign Minstrel").

    What applications do you use?

Re: ... :) I had two programs like that, Digital Soundbook and...Digital Minstrel, I believe the other was called. Not sure if I even have the original source for either anymore (I switched to just playing MP3s via Winamp at one point). I did recently put together a new sound player -...

Can't go to sleep...Foxpro will eat me...can't go to sleep...Foxpro will eat me... :) Just some bad memories of a recent project at work. Actually not Foxpro's fault, moreso the consultants who used it. No, TS won't be reading Foxpro any time soon, or even not-so-soon... I'm trying to stick to...

[PR] Exciting New Accessories from Paradigm

Any idea how successful those where? I bought them myself back then as they seemed like a great idea, but in practice I never really used them...

What format are the tables in? TableSmith does have a (limited) XML-reading capability. I've been thinking about putting in an XML-reading function that's a bit more powerful (like reading an XPath statement). Let me know what you're thinking about; I'll see what can be done in a future release...

    What applications do you use?

Programs I wrote: - TableSmith: Random names, descriptions, etc., etc. - Campaign Sage: I use my laptop when I DM, so I use this to access various charts, monster stats, spell info, campaign maps, etc. (that reminds me - the monster/spell info is from the SRD...I should probably upload it for...

    What programming/tools should I learn?

Um...what he said :) (Looks like we posted at the same time; no need to repeat...). Thanks, Luke! I should post the URL, though: http://www.mythosa.net (Front door) http://www.mythosa.net/Utils.html (Utilities page)

    Random Encounter Generators

I don't know of anything like that currently available, but a member of the TableSmith list is embarking on a project to do just that. If anyone's interested in participating, his address is barg@tuathnasgiath.com.

    MT, PCgen, etc

If you're using something that uses VS.NET's common language libraries (like VB.NET or C#), you need the .NET framework, which isn't included in any version of Windows (not even XP). Right now it's a bit of a pain, since hardly anything uses it, but eventually it shouldn't be a big deal - once...

    Boredom + VB6 = Stat Generator

Actually, I've come to have issues with the TableSmith version as well :) It's much more flexible than Campaign Calendar, but it's still not quite what I'm looking for. I'm contemplating re-tooling the Campaign Calendar into something new (something that includes journaling capabilities in...

    Silly name generator

In the next version of TableSmith, I plan on implementing some method to allow the generated results to be written to an XML file rather than an HTML file. You can generate XML right now if you want, but the results file has an .HTML extension and gets HTML tags added to the beginning and end...
