I'm sure WotC is consoling themselves over the drop in relative sales of a 5-year old PHB with the sales of the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount (currently ranked #31 overall).

Published under license (and I believe their license still allows them to sell PDFs of certain Dragon and Dungeon back issues). WotC owns the content though and it includes a lot of their IP.

No, but how many other games can boast multiple successful 3PP publishers and their own version of the DM's Guild? The folks running Chaosium now are closely modeling their marketing on WotC and it appears to be paying off.

Though I would say that some of those problems are going to emerge over time given the amount of content that is likely going to be released, a problem shared with 3e, 4e, and PF 1e. Will it be as bad as it's predecessor? Probably not unless Paizo loses its mind and introduces stuff like new...
