    Vulnerabilities: an underutilized mechanism?

I actually like vulnerabilities that do more than add additional damage; I find them more tactically interesting, even if only inflicts the slowed condition, for example.

    Elemental Power Source

Shadow has already begun, the assassin class uses the shadow power source and there are also a couple of paragon paths that utilize it.

    Elemental Power Source

When the monk playtest article was first released and it was revealed that the ki power source was being dropped, many speculated that the elemental power source would suffer the same fate (others also speculated that the shadow power source was also being sacrificed). Over at rpg.net, Mike...

No one discussing "The Plane Below"?

I have it and I really enjoyed reading it. It definitely takes a toolbox approach to the Elemental Chaos, which allows DMs to easily tailor the content to their own campaigns or drop elements wholesale into their adventures. I do wish their were more monsters in the book, but I was happy with...

    Goblins, the final PHB3 race?

Someone pointed this out over at the WotC boards and I thought it was kind of interesting (I completely blew past it this morning when I first read it), so I thought I'd share it here. Below is a short passage from The Plane Below (pg 31): Now, a single passage from the latest splatbook...

One more hint about gnolls on PHB3?

I don't know about the gnoll being in the PHB3, but WotC finally fixed what I think is among their coolest racial feats...you can now enchant your claws if you take the gnoll claw fighter feat.

    Outlaw Press stolen artwork accusations

Apparently, the rights to some of that art is held by some litigious corporations, such as Games Workshop and one of the collectable card companies. Then, there's the whole "The Djinni's Ring" from Dungeon #9, whose rights are controlled by WotC. Hopefully, someone will take him to the cleaners.

    Outlaw Press stolen artwork accusations

Having followed the thread over at RPG.net, I would hardly call this an accusation anymore. He's definitely trafficking in stolen artwork, as well as other stolen IP (he copied the solo adventure from Dungeon 9, converted the stats into T&T, and passed it off as his own; he distributed and sold...

    Ardent Class: Predictions?

It may be interesting, but people already complain enough about how the warlock's at-will powers are constrained by their eldritch pact, I can only imagine what it would be like if all of a class's powers were selected in a similar manner.

    DDI Article Discussions

I see that Umbran locked a couple of DDI Article discussions that were created in the General Forum and said they should go to the Rules Forum, but this only seemed to apply to some recent Dragon articles featuring new powers and feats. This seems like a new policy and since not all DDI...

    Revisionist game publishing

To add to this, I believe the only way you can currently wield large weapons is via the 24th level epic destiny feature of the Eternal Defender.

WotC Layoffs - Rob Heinsoo, Logan Bonner, and Chris Sims

I've seen a lot of talk in some quarters about layoffs at Palladium.

WotC Layoffs - Rob Heinsoo, Logan Bonner, and Chris Sims

I'm saddened by the news and hope that everyone affected by the layoffs gets back on their feet as soon as possible.

Dragon 382 - Winning Races: Dusk Elf

Technically, this isn't even the first subrace in Dragon, it seems we've all forgotten the Abyssal genasi from two issues back!

Dragon 382 - Winning Races: Dusk Elf

The FR feats were trying to emulate a racial division that didn't exist anymore in 4e, while the dusk elves are more of a cultural/religious division (despite the default differences in physical appearance), so it makes sense to me to not have that kind of restriction on the feat. Also, there...

Dragon 382 - Winning Races: Dusk Elf

I should have said "first new subrace for 4e," which is what I meant.

Dragon 382 - Winning Races: Dusk Elf

Its all feat-based, so dusk elves at their core are mechanically identical to PHB elves.

Dragon 382 - Ampersand: Looking Back

In this article, Bill looks back on 2009 and more interestingly, unveils an extensive preview of Hammerfast and a relatively shorter preview of The Plane Above. The backstory to Hammerfast certainly sounds interesting and its not what I expected. Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official...

Dragon 382 - Winning Races: Dusk Elf

The first "Winning Races" article of this month introduces the first elven sub-race in 4e. Dusk elves were originally eladrin refugees who fled to the world instead of fighting in the war between the eladrin and the drow; though thought of as traitors by their eladrin cousins, as well as...

    FR The Abolethic Sovergnity

Cool picture. If you're going to pursue this plot hook and have a DDI account, you may want to check out this short article which has some more information about the Sovereignty and some nice new aboleth stats.
