I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

I haven’t been following things too closely either. I googled and found this just now. They have since gone ahead and removed it. https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/daggerheart-testing-action-tracker-removal-in-post-beta-development/

I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

I am fascinated by the fact that they are getting rid of the action tracker (this has been verified by the designers). It seemed fundamental to their combat design.

    Daggerheart Core Set Covers Revealed

It feels like people are deeply misunderstanding the concept of rolling with hope or fear. It's simply shading the results rolled with either a positive spin or a negative spin; it's helping the player and GM adjudicate what happens. In terms of improv game play, rolling with hope means 'and'...

I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

The cards are turn off for me too… I inevitably always lose/misplace cards. But I do understand how they can be a valuable play aid and certainly critical role loves selling merch. I really really hope they replicate all the information on the cards, in the actual book. (I recall that the...

I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

That would be super odd to have done so given MM '25 isn't even out yet and given they're approaching the end of campaign 3.

I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

Also, hard to imagine that critical role doesn’t have a financial arrangement with WotC to use 5E. I agree that critical role would lose viewership if they left behind D&D but I also think critical role is a consistently excellent advertisement for the game - WotC marketing dollars are being...

I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

DH will be a game I will try out for sure when it's published. I think they give just enough emergent results that it makes handling them easy; that they have them all is a feather in the game's cap. Heroic fantasy with a bit more of a narrative bent but still not ignoring combat tactics...

How Serious Do You Like Your Gaming?

I don't run comedy. I don't play comedy. I want serious punctuated by moments of in-narrative humor that doesn't undercut the drama or tension but serves as relief from it, an alternative tone that makes the serious moments even darker.

D&D (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

I didn't realize until today that KP apologized on 11/14 for the DMG hit piece.

Great to hear. Given dialysis is involved, clearly it's quite serious... glad to hear you're leaving the hospital! Have you put up a GoFundMe or something to help you financially? Pls consider doing so. Keep up your strength and get well.

The Wizard May Be Weird But The Game Is Great

Rob offers tremendous value in his games and this is no exception. People looking for a fun and complete alternative to giving WotC their money should look at SotWW. His original Shadow of the Demon Lord game was a bit too exploding-intestines for me but here the tone is altered and feels more...

Random House to Publish New "Tusk Love" Critical Role Novel

This is ridiculous and I totally love it.

D&D (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

Yikes! It's not the worst idea for you to avoid pretentiousness like this, okay? Moving on.

D&D (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

Sure are lots of definitive statements that the DMG 2014 was awful. Just want to say that I patently disagree with that sentiment. So do plenty of other people.

D&D (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

Okay, bought it a week ago and have been reading it. This new DMG is of limited use to me. I'm an old hand at this... like many of us here. I'll use the magic item lists for sure... and probably the Bastion stuff - which is straightforward and uncomplicated compared to a lot of other subsystems...

Blades in the Dark Gets First Official Expansion

If anyone is curious... John Harper kind of changed the DNA of Blades in the Dark and it amounts to a '2e' version of the game but he doesn't call it that. Deep Cuts was published over the weekend and it adds a bunch of lore to the game and tinkers with a bunch of system rules but the biggest...

[Kickstarter] Broken Empires RPG by Trevor Devall of Me, Myself and Die!

I’m kind of surprised about the lack of content pushing the KS at this point. He did the Kelsey Dion chat nearly a week ago, a character sheet overview 12 days ago. I’m not saying he needs to be at the used-car salesman-level like the DC 20 guy who seemed to be putting out videos 7x a day but I...
