    Are you a preparation junky?

I find myself in one of two situations. One where I get hurled into DMing a game that I have just barely made an overriding story arch for, and another where I am overly prepared. I honestly prefer the overly prepared situation. In that situation I won't run out of material (which on occasion...

    Music for a CoC game

I am currently running a CoC game that takes place during the 1930 in Chicago. One of my player's mother's used to be a prosecuting attorney. Since he can hook me up with some of the cooler items I might want (boxes evidence bags and the like), I have been organizing some other friends of mine...

    Sources for Interesting Characters?

Wow, I did not know about the larger casting book, i gotta get one!

    Unengaged Players

Since the players are so concerned about consequences in the long term for the world I thought up a quick scenario that would maybe help. Have the players encounter some sort of "sleeper" that has a secret in their head and some sorc/wiz/cleric what have you asks them to go inside the...

    Awesome Dice

I do like the look of metal dice but 50$ is a bit pricey. I did just discover that Q-workshop will make custom dice for people which is pretty slick. I do like the "stone" dice as well

    Sources for Interesting Characters?

Usually If I need help making a character I take a look at Central Casting, I roll it up and if it's a serious game Limit the amount of sillyness therein. There are three central casting books, Heroes of Legend, Heroes Now! and Heroes of Tomorrow.

    Awesome Dice

I've been looking at getting some new dice for myself. I was wondering if anyone had any particular dice style they really enjoyed? I have been thinking about getting these Amazon.com: Call Of Cthulhu: Green And Glow-in-the-Dark Dice Set: Toys & Games Since I will be running a Cthulhu Game in...

    What's your favorite trap?

I think this may have been in a pre-made adventure. The trap was a room with tiles that changed the direction of gravity (to up) each time a player took a step further into the room. Also random spikes in the room on both sides.

    The Player/GM relationship.

Really D&D is to have fun, that's what matters. I agree that anyone who has a problem with your relationship inside the game due to possible favoritism is just asking for trouble already.

    Interesting Game Mechanic

I'm glad that more players have tried this. It was lots of fun I haven't looked forward to the next session like this in a while. So far the best part has been the obsidian rod I placed in the first room. I had no intentions for the rod at the start of the dungeon but the next DM did something...

    Interesting Game Mechanic

My friend's and I have been throwing the idea around for a while. We started a game (originally intended to be a 1-shot) with a large inescapable (for now) dungeon where with each room the role of DM is passed to the left. I started the game by giving a vague purpose to being in the...

    Oath of Poverty

Cool! Thanks for the help folks!

    Oath of Poverty

In a rather interesting game (where the DM changes by the room). I took an oath of poverty (as a monk). I assume using someone else's healing potions break the vow and count as "borrowing?"

An Idea for a creative Superhero build

Mostly I was thinking about how I would run a superhero game, and I feel like I came up with a great way to level up and generate superheroes. First the player rolls stats and assigns them as if they are making a character without a class and at the same time (or even beforehand) the player...

    Superhero RPG?

Wow thanks for all the response guys! I sort of came up with a superhero system I liked last night, but I could use some feedback on it. Since it is more appropriate to make a new forum I will do that. I will definitely check out some of these books to see if I like them better!

    Superhero RPG?

Do you guys know of any superhero type RPG's? I am really looking for something that is relatively easy to pick up and play with not too complex rules for my playgroup.

    LF Video Game Recommendations

I quite like a little game called Arcanum: Of steamworks and Magik obscura. I warn that the graphics aren't the greatest and there are a few glitches. The world is very unique and the story is completely engrossing. The sandbox feel is fantastic and there are many things you can do that have an...

    Magnum Opus?

Since I am new here I am not sure if there is a forum for this but I thought this might be a fun discussion. What has been your greatest Campaign so far? As a player or a DM (or both). Player: The general outline of the game was part of a 3 part campaign series. Each part was a prequel to the...

    Creepy...

Man O man now this is some necromancy here. I am truly sorry but I just read through all these forums and I had to share my favorite horror moments. My first CoC game took place in 1920's Detroit. In that game I was a cop and I ended up at the police station alone. Out of the corner of my eye...
