I think its extrenmely hypocritical of Ebert to give one mindless ultraviolent, no-story movie 4 stars (kill bill) and another 0 stars (TCSM remake). They belong in the same dungheap as far as I'm concerned. And a :) to offset some of the bitterness of my post.

Yep where I live movies cost $14.50. Multiply that by two for this single-movie-split-into-two-parts and thats $30. Well, $29.

Don't kid yourselves. The only reason this movie was split into two parts was money. Big thumbs down to the studio and Tarantino for asking us to pay $30 to see one movie.

I also like how the dangers that the expanse poses to vulcans is due to a really bad allergy, rather than any supernatural causes. Makes the high command look really silly and superstitious and demystifies the region somewhat. Though I like the idea of creepy expanses of space and space horror...

Nope its not the same thing, which was initially a dissapointment but I got over it pretty quick. I have high hopes considering the people involved.
