D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Carad gave a quick smile in reply to Hunter's quip, but turned serious again as he scanned the chaos of the town, many of the buildings still pouring out smoke or flames. "We might need to use that bluff again before the night is over." Zoning out briefly, Carad reported, "Scree doesn't see any...

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Hearing Hunter's call, Carad peered out and saw that the way into the keep was clear. "Come on, the way is clear!" he called out to the family and waved them past him. Seeing the battle tide turning, Carad nocked his bow and fired into the back of one of the fleeing kobolds. [roll0] [roll1]...

Woah, a double fumble. Looks like Jeni would need a while more first to get rid of the flying reptile - unless Venn gets it next. :-)

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

I know it's the cultists' initiative first but I'll be away soon and don't want to hold things up. Please amend where necessary. Carad glanced briefly at the cultist that Hunter was engaged with but hearing his commander's directions, he turned and aimed his bow at the flying kobold, hoping...

D&D 5E hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen (full)

Carad has zero damaging spells. Since he is fey in nature, his spells would be more to mess with the minds (i.e enchantment or illusion). Coming right up! The sleep spell didn't get it so looks like it is back to bow and arrow.

Great! I forgot that Carad could take cunning action the last turn to Hide as bonus action. Oh well, will do that his next turn. :-)

D&D 5E hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen (full)

hafrogman, seeing Carad's position at the corner of the keep, is it feasible for him to hide behind the walls from the raiders (other than the N6 cultist)? So that he can attempt to sneak attack after that.

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

"Well, there goes that plan," Carad thought to himself. From his vantage point just at the corner of the keep, he started urging the family of refugees to move in but quickly changed and signaled them to hold back when the fanatical cultist ran practically to the entrance of the keep. Glancing...

(Not sure if it's happening to the rest of you by enworld has been difficult to get in or extremely slow for me the last few days.) Agree, I think sneaking either north or south would work. Each has its pros and cons. North seem shorter, but possibly more chance of encounters. South is longer...

Carad added on, "There seems to be some kind of gathering to the south side of the river but by Mystra's grace, they won't notice a group of "mercenaries" making our way. Even if they do, they would have to cross to river to engage us. Otherwise, there don't seem to be much movement to the south."

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Carad grabbed one of the boys who had made to dash off when the party was stopped. While he appreciated his instincts, the movement would likely have given their position away. Only when the kid had calmed down was he able to start sneaking his way to the front, but by then, Hunter had already...

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Carad frowns deeply as he listened in, and dutifully shared what he saw and heard to his team under his breath. With his senses tied to Scree's, he was deaf and blind to his immediate surroundings, but he trusted his teammates to shake him out of his trance if needed. "Lieutenant," he added...

Carad nodded silently to acknowledge, and mentally directed Scree to land silently on the roof of the house the five men were under. Focusing inwards, Carad directed his mind to share his senses with his familiar, listening in to the conversation below. [roll0] [roll1] [roll2] Advantage from...

Carad leans over to Linan and whispers, "Do you recognize any of them?"

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Carad, again, simply nodded silently in reply. As he moved towards the rear of the party though, he stopped briefly by Morgan's side and, under his breath so that only the she would hear, whispered, "I haven't been with Black Tide for long, and to be honest, I had not intended to stay this...

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Carad's eyes refocused back to his surroundings, as he mutters a silent prayer to Mystra. With a brief shake of head to clear the disorientation, he turns to his commander. "Lieutenant, there are no large groups moving about but there are a number of smaller ones roaming around. The heavy smoke...

Sounds fun! Perhaps I would roll an intelligence check also to see if Carad understands him each time. :-)

Agreed! I figured it was worth the risk since the kobolds were practically mincemeat by then. :-)

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

"Fly high and lend me your eyes," Carad mentally sends to Scree. With that, his will turns inwards and instead of aftermath of the combat around him, he is looking down from the eyes of the owl on the chaos of the town. He scans the surroundings, hoping to find a safe path around the battles to...

D&D 5E [IC] hafrogman's Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Carad is momentarily distracted when a bear suddenly appears by his side before he realises that it is Jeni. He looks with satisfaction as his arrow takes down one of the kobolds before it could harry the family further. Quickly scanning the battle, his focus zooms into the kobold who broke...
