    Hardback or softback?

I absolutely agree. I am down with the clown. :)

    Martial Artists and weapons

I don't think that the idea will get much support, but I have always thought that the damage dealt by a monk wielding a monk weapon should be equal to his unarmed attack damage. If you want to limit it, you could maybe have the monk choose one favored monk weapon for this to apply to at first...

    Hardback or softback?

I make my judgement based on flavor. Hardshells are good, but you can't beat softshell with garlic and white wine sauce. :p

    Is Quench really all that?

For those who require "reasonable" magic... SR does not apply to Quench because it does not target the creature. From its description, it is clearly an AoE spell unless used against a magic item. Then, SR of the magic item does apply because quench was used as a targeted spell in that instance...

    [Poll] Character Age/Lifespan

I use them, but they never come up unless a player wants to start off at an older age and has a justification via a backstory, or when I make an older NPC. A high level druid doesn't need a good Str, Dex, or Con because he'll rarely ever use his own physical stats anyway (wild shape)! :D

The Most Simple And Best Rule Improvement Of All Time!!!!!

I think it reflects training. To become a 1st level cleric, this character had to spend a lot of time learning rituals, ceremonies, scriptures, and spells. To become a bard, he had to invest the time necessary to become a true master of several performing arts. To become a rogue he had to master...

Is this fair or am I evil DM?

MEA to coat a single arrow. Poison remains potent for 1d4 rounds. Same DC and primary damage. NO secondary damage. (Slightly different delivery system and not as much poison introduced into the wound as some would be lost in flight, dripping off, etc. A snakebite is a direct injection.) No...

    What was CAR WARS?

What about the ultimate in Car Wars munchkinism: Helicopters and Semi- Trucks! :D Oh yeah, the gasoline engine supplemental rules and surplus tank armor, too!

How does a character multiclass into the Barbarian Class

I think that as long as there is a legitimate in-character explanation (as there should always be when multi-classing) adding a level of Barbarian is perfectly acceptable. I disagree with those who feel that such a character would somehow suddenly "forget" the ability to read though. Literacy...

    Traits & Flaws?

Swashbuckling Adventures by AEG makes extensive use of this. Lots of cool traits (called Virtues) and flaws (called Flaws and/or Hubris').Try to avoid the temptation to bring their feats into a standard D&D game though. They assume a low-magic world and are meant to replace magic weapons and...

Monster BAB and Number of Attacks

I think that if a creature is advanced by type it does not gain additional attacks, but if a creature advances by class it does. So, I think your riding dog would not gain additional attacks. However there is still the issue of awakened animals. If the above is true, then I would say that it...

    Sudden Horizontal Syndrome

First, Thank you for your reply. If you've done Judo, then surely you remember that the first thing you learned was how to fall. You are specially trained to avoid damage from flips and throws. Just like a character with ranks in Tumble would be in my proposed house rule. (No, I am not...

    Sudden Horizontal Syndrome

I see Great Throw in the new feats table in OA, but I can't find the feat. Is it out of alphabetical order or have I found an error in my printing of the book? Anyway, I think you miss my point. I am proposing a house rule whereby all trip attacks deal damage. This would not require a feat, it...

    Sudden Horizontal Syndrome

Anyone who has been on either side of a martial arts throw knows that being slammed into the ground hurts. It has always bothered me a little bit that when a monk "trips" a character it doesn't hurt. Being tripped unexpectedly with a chain, flail or other weapon also results in being slammed...

Casting on the defensive... at 1st level

Ah. That changes everything. If its a 3rd level character with 1 level of wizard, then you are correct. In fact, if he has mobility then he's better off deliberately moving in such a way to provoke an AoO from the creature threatening him and then casting the spell. (Just hope the creature...

Casting on the defensive... at 1st level

Why open yourself up to two attacks in a round plus maybe lose your spell when you could just open yourself up to one attack in a round and maybe lose your spell? At 1st level, a wizard that is hit with two melee attacks is a dead or dying wizard. Heck, most 1st level wizards are pretty bad off...

    Easy Tumble Question

I think tumbling past the dragon is perfectly OK. Here's why (Please read carefully. I know the dragon in question is only 1 or 2 sizes larger than most PC races. The point is in bold text.): Any character can move through a space occupied by a creature three or more sizes larger than itself...

Piratecat, I would like to contribute to the fund for Morrus’ trip to Gencon, and I would also like to become a Community Supporter. The Community Supporter link says that these accounts are not being processed right now due to PayPal issues, but this thread suggests that there are other ways...
