    [Magic] Stasis/Permission Deck

I will say that, being post eight edition aside, you're at a serious handicap not using Isochron Scepter. You can set up a hard lock with a boomerang on a scepter and stasis. It'll give you pretty much infinite recursion of every card in your deck. In fact, any deck of this type without scepters...

    Idea: D&D TV Show

I actually liked it when it was first on, I remember it pretty well. At the time, I had never heard of White Wolf or Vampire the Masquerade, so how that molds opinion... And I double checked, I had just turned 11 when Covington Cross was on. I really liked it, but I also liked a bunch of really...

    Idea: D&D TV Show

I did like that show, but I think I was like, 12 when it was on. You know, despite being derided by White Wolf fans, Kindred: The Embraced did very well, and would have had a second season if the star hadn't been killed. Distancing itself from the source material isn't a bad idea, it gives you...

Sci-Fi setting: Aliens, Xenomorphs and originality

Honestly, if I sat down for a game session and found out I was fighting the aliens from Alien, I'd probably roll my eyes and tune out. I didn't much care for those movies. Shoe-horning them into a different game would annoy me, because they're so iconic. If the game was based on the Alien...

WotC to Revise D&D 4th Edition GSL and SRD

Opener actually is a word. But it doesn't mean more open. I think that means this is the first GSL played this season. Or the GSL is the comedian before the bad hair metal band.

    Unable to register at Birthright.net...

Ahh, I only checked the first step, see, now I feel like a schmuck. Yeah, someone should probably tell the site administrator it's not working.

    Unable to register at Birthright.net...

Having never been there, I just now went and checked, and it worked fine for me. Try again, and if it still doesn't work, then there's an issue with your browser. Try a different browser, or try upgrading to the most current version of the one you have.

I wouldn't call any flavor issue a house rule, but I see what you're getting at.

    Rebels, Just for Fun

Okay, so I'm messing around with a casual rebels list, and this is what I came up with. Ramosian Sergeant x 4 Amrou Scout x2 Defiant Falcon x2 Ramosian Lieutenant x1 Defiant Vanguard x1 Lin Sivvi x2 Blade of the Sixth Pride x1 Whipcorder x2 Outrider en-Kor x1 Task Force x1 Zealot il-Vec x1 Big...

Forked Thread: What is WOTC's Goal with the GSL?

That's not exactly true. Microsoft Office 2008 is $150. iWork 2008 is $79.00. Vista upgrade is $160, 10.5 full install is $130. The 80 gig Zune and 80 gig iPod are both $250. Apple does have very expensive professional-level programs like Final Cut, but Final Cut costs about 1/3 to 1/2 of what...

    3rd printing of core books?

Doesn't the GSL say that you can't include page numbers because they might change in subsequent printings? This leads me to believe they at least have the intention of adding errata to reprints at some point, because there's no other reason to change the layout.

Errata in reprints: To add or not to add? Forked Thread: 3rd printing of core books?

From a different angle, if the first print of a book said "It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times," would you think that the errata should be included in the second print? What if it said Jebus?. Because that's basically what errata is, corrections to misprints.

    Classic Millstone Deck?

If your opening hand was island, sol ring, lotus petal/mox, lion's eye diamond/lotus, painter's servant and grindstone you could go off turn 1. of course, half of those are restricted or banned, depending on what format, and expensive either way. And there are easier ways to go off on turn 1.

    DDI for $7.95

"I know there has been a lot of discussion of our business model and our pricing plan. We’ve been paying attention to those conversations and have decided to tweak a few things. Our current plan is to start charging for subscriptions before we have the client applications ready. That means the...

What is it about the GSL that is really a deal breaker?

You know, this is a good point. What can they actually do? Lock you out of the 5th edition GSL? Sue you for breech of contract? It seems like the loss of use of the GSL is the only thing they can feasibly do, which means that having it exist after the termination of the license doesn't make...

What is it about the GSL that is really a deal breaker?

A month to month lease, sure. What about a six-month or 12-month lease? Can the landlord change those with no notice for any reason? There's no incentive to enter into a contract unless it's binding to both parties. If it isn't, then what you have isn't a contract, it's a handshake. And even...

Can anyone write Cthulhu Mythos material?

Sure they can. That was the whole basis of White Wolf's lawsuit against Sony for that Underworld movie. It was "thematically similar" and had Vampires fighting Werewolves. I'm surprised they haven't tried to sue Stephenie Meyer yet. I mean, one of their copyright claims was that in Vampire: The...

    Game Over for Gamer's Paradise

Warhammer/40K and Warmachine are very very different, actually. Warmachine is... faster. A lot faster. And a lot cheaper. Ditto for Anima Tactics. Warhammer prices are insane, even when you get them cheap. $50 for 5 Space Marine Terminators is about the same as 5 Anima minis (MSRP $10, but...

Can anyone write Cthulhu Mythos material?

According to a basic search on the Trademark Electronic Search System, at http://www.uspto.gov/, there are only two active trademarks on Cthulhu. One is The Call of Cthulhu, held by Chaosium, which applies to "rules book and supplements for playing a fantasy roleplaying game." The second is The...

The return of the lead mini

The paint tastes awful, too, if you have some left on the brush. But it's the best way to get the bristles into a uniform shape. I think the most important thing to remember not to do when painting lead minis is smoke. Odd, considering cigarettes themselves are harmful, but lead poses a greater...
