I would think that it's possible to simulate the majority of the 5e rules using the 3.5 SRD, much like OSR rule sets like OSRIC have used it to go back and simulate 1e (and other older editions, such as 0e and BECMI). -HM

I just looked up and saw Roll20 made just about $40k, so I'm not quite sure what the chance is that these guys will make ten times that. Granted that was 2.5 years ago, and Kickstarter is more popular now, but it still seems like a really lofty goal. -HM
