I tend to agree with that. I LOVE the cage... but I do find it hard to justify my characters being there... While I appreciate (and share similar opinions on) the need for new magi is relevant to this thread in the sense that it doesn't leave a lot of option open for setting coordinators, the fact that new magi will still need to be interviewed and trained puts that idea at least a couple of months...

Not if I can help it, I've just been a bit busy lately (Eberron tabletop, coincidentally... Muwahaha, turned that pesky Kalashtar PC into an afflicted lycanthrope!), so haven't really had much time to brain storm (or look up alternate locations). Hopefully might get some more input from you...
