R&C Art, the Women of R&C

I absolutely despise bikinimail, cleavage windows on breastplates, and all the other slutty armor crap. That said, I wouldn't really mind if it shows up in 4e art sometimes, provided that a) it's relatively rare, and b) it doesn't try to be subtle. Pinup babes are a trope of the genre, after...

    Races and Classes, Two-Weapon Fighting?

I like this idea a lot. So agreed. The "TWF = extra attacks" thing always makes me envision some guy just flailing away wildly with both swords held out in front of him. That sort of approach may work well in sissy slap-fighting, but it's not a great idea in a swordfight. I do! TWF is not...

Talent Trees - Why do we believe they are in?

I thought those were pretty clearly inspired by Civilization's tech trees. Development of 4e will make all my barracks obsolete. :(

    Playtesting vs a .5 Edition

This is pointless. The question isn't which game has the bigger damage penis. You said that SWSE has triple HP at first level because the weapons available at first level make it necessary. For that to be true, first-level SWSE weapons would need to do somewhere around three times as much...

Fighter "Stunts": How will they work?

There is no such maneuver. Sudden Leap lets you make a jumping move as a swift action, but you have to roll a standard Jump check to see how far you can go, and you're not gonna be getting 30ft at level 3. It's easy to seem overpowered when you cheat. ^_^ (Though, seriously speaking, he...

    Elves "Favoring" Cleric

The kind of druid class I would like to have is so different from the classic cleric that they really couldn't exist in the same class without making that class so broad it's meaningless. That's one reason for wanting separate classes, at least. Unfortunately it seems that 4e is moving far...

Holiday Present - The Elf PHB entry

I hope they move away from the uniformity-of-net-attribute-modifiers thing. Some races get +2 to two attributes, some get +2 to one, some get no bonuses. That can be balanced with other benefits. That said, a freely-assigned +2 - or just a higher point value, since they're going with point...

Holiday Present - The Elf PHB entry

"attack roll" probably includes both physical attacks and spells. Remember that in 4e the spellcaster rolls against a static Fort/Ref/Will defense, rather than the target rolling a save. So Elven Accuracy will probably work for any spell that in 3e had a saving throw.

Rich Baker confirms new look of Gnomes

Oh, that is nice. I'm not sure if I like that as a look for gnomes, specifically, but it's an awesome picture.

    Races and Classes, Two-Weapon Fighting?

No, Frostmarrow pretty much just made that up. They're taking away iterative attacks, but there will be other ways to gain multiple attacks. There was a playtest report where a ranger shot two arrows in one round, and they mentioned fighters who use swords getting abilities that allow extra...

    (Races & Classes) Racial Weaponry

Different cultures use different weapons. I don't see why that would be any less true in D&D than it is in real life. That doesn't mean the differences need to be reflected mechanically. There's no reason to give a poniard and a dirk different stats or anything like that; just treat them both...

    Races and Classes, Two-Weapon Fighting?

It's not that hard. The thing to remember is that almost all TWF styles use the off-hand weapon primarily for defense. It's not all that different from using a shield. Overrated? Maybe. It's more that shields tend to be severely underrated, than the alternatives being overrated.

    Bonus feat granting classes

There's the rogue variant in Unearthed Arcana that gets fighter bonus feats instead of sneak attack, but I imagine you'd have a hard time convincing your GM to let you take both that and fighter on the same character.

    Tieflings are Draenai

That's not true. There's also the dwarf female flirting! "I'll have ye know, I kin flatten steel wit' my thighs!"

    Playtesting vs a .5 Edition

If you think there's such a thing as "enough playtesting", then you've never tried to design a game. There are always things that didn't get polished enough, data that wasn't complete enough, problems that no one caught in time. Complaining that there are flaws in a game because it wasn't...

    Tieflings are Draenai

Maybe tieflings are like draenei. If so, WoW got the short end of the stick on this similarity. Descendants of an ancient corrupt empire are way cooler than space paladins.

The Tielfling and The Gnome: On the Set of 4th edition

They talked about reducing the wizard's illusion capabilities to make room for a specialist class. I don't think they were talking about the bard. I think they're taking bard in a different direction, with the leader role and a possible fey connection. Regarding the video: I liked the...

WotC Dave posts about "Prison Break" Playtesting

A wizard hit two enemies in the same round and twice as much damage to the first as the second. That reminds me a lot of the speculation from back when it was first revealed that spells could crit, that area spells would only be able to score crits on an enemy they're centered on...

    For the first time... apprehension

You say that like it's a good thing. Rolling Search and Disable Device a few times while the party moves down a hallway does not make up for being dead weight during two hours of combat.

THREE elven races, plus half-elves ... but they say gnomes have no niche?!

Elves and eladrin make sense as separate races. Half-elves suck, no argument there. I think it's odd to say that gnomes were kicked to the MM to make room for eladrin. Maybe it was to make room for tieflings, or dragonborn. Or maybe they decided that the two small races weren't distinct...
