    Warlord vs. Str. Cleric

Incidentally, the cleric has a few daily attack powers in the heroic tier that do not involve attack rolls at all. Also, the 1st level Divine Glow encounter power can grant attack bonuses to multiple allies even on a miss. Still, I mostly agree with your post. cheers

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

Yesterday, I got to try out the barbarian some more. Or rather, a different barbarian. The party underwent some changes once again. Notably, the ranger was swapped out for a one-handed fighter, so the barbarian, now being the only striker, had to be a bit more aggressive than the previous one...

Where 3E and 4E players stand in the great 3E disputes

    1. Psionics: Good or Bad? In theory? Awesome. The XPH mostly delivered. The original Psionics Handbook and particularly the Complete Psionic did not, and other support was scarce. My halfling kineticist was one of my favorite characters, as was the psychic warrior I played much earlier. 2...

    Warlord vs. Str. Cleric

I started out with a dragonborn inspiring warlord and I just found it anything but inspiring. I've since changed to a tactical warlord (still the same dragonborn, although lacking a bonus to Int hurts), and things have been quite a bit more interesting since. cheers

    Warlord vs. Str. Cleric

"You guys go ahead and do it" vs. "Let's go ahead and do it". If you're not feeling a disconnect, great, but having played a warlord since release (and a cleric for two sessions), I am of the opinion that there is something lacking/the warlord is too dependent on his party. And here I do not...

    Warlord vs. Str. Cleric

Yes, physically the warlord is in the thick of things. The effects of most of his powers (as well as commanding presence and the feats that build upon that) however do not affect himself, so in that regard he doesn't always feel like a part of the team he is boosting. cheers

    Warlord vs. Str. Cleric

Quite possible. I wish the warlord felt just a little more like the captain of a team, rather than a cheerleader or coach standing by the sidelines. Maybe the bravura warlord will lend itself more towards that kind of character, or perhaps even a thaneborn barbarian multiclassed to warlord...

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

The ranger in our group was exchanged for a one-handed fighter, so I have in turn switched to a more aggressive build - warforged, to become a juggernaut later. Unfortunately, yesterday's session was canceled, so I did not get to try him out. cheers

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

That is of course right, so monsters from level 25 onward will not necessarily hit you on a 2. You're still looking at two bad defenses though (which could be behind by something like 8-10 points). I think we can agree on that being worse than having only one bad defense, without further...

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

Sure, they may already start with a difference of around 5 points between their good and bad defenses. That doesn't mean falling behind by another 3 (or 4, if you factor in demigod or eternal defender), while monster attacks generally get better relative to PC defenses, is not significant...

Which 4e adventures have you played?

In one campaign, we've played through H1 and H2, and are now in the midst of H3. We've had one session so far in a converted Anauroch: The Empire of Shade. The other two campaigns are basically homebrew, though we also make use of other adventures. My own campaign for example contains parts...

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

I would've liked to have a more thrilling report after the second session with the barbarian, but here goes: I made the mistake of bringing my own dice again. So while the mage did her thing, and the player of the ranger (with a vicious bow) and paladin once again rolled crits left, right and...

    Getting back on the horse

It's all been said before, I believe, and not you don't necessarily have to DM to find out, but some things that I've found: Tweaking/reskinning monsters/NPCs is quick, dirty fun. Substract a level here, swap a power there, change a keyword there. Initiative. Whether you use a board, cards or...

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

Excellent. Two quick notes about Inexorable Shift: I am fairly sure it's supposed to be read as "1d10 + (1 x number of enemies within 2 squares)", so 1d10 + 6 in this case. Also, there already is a power with that name in the PHB (the Iron Vanguard's utility power). More on the armor issue: my...

    Barbarian Playtest Experiences

The other day I got the chance to try out a barbarian for the first time. It was a short session, with only three combat encounters, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling here and have a thread in which we can share our experiences and observations. I like making characters who go against the...

    Making your own power cards

I'm currently rather busy, but I'll probably tackle those before long, starting with the Dark Pact warlock. cheers

    Making your own power cards

Sure, sure. In fact, nothing would make me happier than if someone made a version of my template that is compatible with your set (or any other set that I don't have to update myself) ;). cheers

    Thunderspire: Ex[eriences?

As a player, this bugged me. Thanks to this and other predictable elements (the ambush, as well as the other tieflings), I found myself less than impressed by Thunderspire. Also, the next time some undead wants me to impress him so I can proceed with the adventure, I'm gonna scream. Way to...
