    Prismatic Rays + Divine Oracle

Also, for increasing his chance to crit, rolling twice is the closest thing a wizard has to the weapon mastery feats (and he gets it mid-paragon). cheers

4E Monster Manual II: will you?

Meh. I'll decide after I've thumbed through the copy of the guy in our group who'd vote "Absolutely. I plan to purchase all of WotC's 4E books no matter what". cheers

    Prismatic Rays + Divine Oracle

Actually, after reading it again, I'd tend towards making the dazed condition dependant on the attack against Will only. Not sure which interpretation I'd suggest to the DM, but I won't be playing the character again for a while anyway. cheers

    Rule "Yes"

I should probably have said "in our other games", though that may also be part of the reason. "No" pretty much was the default answer you'd get from one DM for a while. He had a tendency to allow the most broken stuff as long as it had the WotC seal, but was still afraid that a "Yes" to the...

    Rule "Yes"

Honestly, I wish my party would ask more so I'd get more chances to say "Yes". I've gone ahead and allowed them some things they did not even ask for, to get the message across, but everyone's probably a bit too used to the default answer being "No" in other games. cheers

    Prismatic Rays + Divine Oracle

We've so far played it as two rolls vs. all three defenses. I don't recall a particular ruling regarding misses, but I'd say if it misses any defense, the character is dazed. cheers

    Making your own power cards

Of course, I was just pointing out the likely reason it's wrong in some sets. The power description in my current one should be correct. cheers

What ARE feats for? Min-maxing or Role-Play customization

In our case, all characters (in 3 campaigns, or 4 if you count another that hasn't gotten off the ground) chose to be tougher than other characters at first or (rarely) at second level (even the ranger who picked the archery path). I just went ahead and made toughness a bonus feat at first level...

Thunderspire and the 5-minute adventuring day

It may be the level, but level 5 isn't all that spectacular. They'll really feel it when they hit level 6 though, when they get +1 to everything, a feat, a new power, and healing word/inspiring word heals another 1d6 points. cheers

    Poll: Drow PC's

Drow PCs have no place in my campaign at this time. It's not set in the Realms though. If it was, or perhaps at a later time, my answer would probably be "don't play a drow unless you want trouble". cheers

    Monster Reskinning

Oh yes. A few small tweaks and that young white dragon is now a low-level solo orc berserker. cheers

    Making your own power cards

Absolutely. The nice thing about having an MSE set is that anyone can fill in the blanks for himself or others. cheers

    Making your own power cards

I'm looking at the tiefling warlord pregen for KotS right now, which reads as follows (he has an 18 in Intelligence): cheers

    Making your own power cards

My last update was quite a while ago and I haven't checked the thread since (monstly because I didn't get to play as much as I would've liked over the summer). With my new campaign getting off the ground this week, and one of the PCs being a swordmage, I have added some more powers to the set...

A Wrought Iron Fence Made of Tigers

Agreed. I disliked the names for the wizard disciplines, but in hindsight I'd much rather see the disciplines than the holes they have left in the wizard section of the PHB. cheers

Item level as a function of character level

This is what I'm planning to do in my new campaign, except that one or two of the items may not be part of the characters' starting gear but found early on. cheers

Diagonal Movement - Better or Worse?

I was considering houseruling the old distance rules back in, but after actually using the new rules for a while, I quite like them. If you want to change things, it shouldn't really be a problem, but has your DM/group tried the rules in actual play yet? You may find that it doesn't take all...

Warlord. A bad or a good Cleric?

We've had two warlords so far. One started out as an inspiring one, but ended up being rather frustrating to play. He, and the party, have since gone through a few changes. On the positive side, the increase in party size from 3 to 5, the inclusion of a brutal scoundrel, and him now being a...

    Quick deaths in D&D

Oh yes. We checked all the vases, just to be sure. It helps when you have a paladin who can take 11 on saving throws. I'm actually a bit surprised not more of our PC deaths were from save or die effects. A standout though was the random encounter a party ran into at level 10 or so. Three...

    Quick deaths in D&D

A few quick ones: A replacement character in an Eberron game, a half-orc barbarian. His first and last encounter was a Sahuagin ambush, in which he was swallowed by a dire shark. The first level elven wizard with a less than stellar constitution score who went ahead into a room with goblin...
