[Poll] Vote For The Top 10 Horror RPGs!

Not sure if it counts as a game or a setting (both?), but Wonderland for JAGS is one of my favorites. Just reading through the book with too open a mind can put a strain on one's sanity o.O

A Tale Of Two Bestiaries: Looking At The Fiend Folio And Creature Catalog In POD

Bear in mind that such critters as Drow, Lolth and kuo-toa didn't debut or premiere with Fiend Folio, but were merely collected into the volume after first appearing in adventure modules of the late 70s. Heck, even the original Monster Manual was just a collection of creatures that already...

Goodman Games Latest News on Into The Borderlands

I really want this and am painfully curious as to what modules they plan to do next!

Blowing it All Up and Starting Over

You can always tell a world is poorly conceived when it has to alter itself to conform or new or "updated" rules. A good, solid world can take any rule-set and make it conform to the setting, not the other way around. Just imagine Conan's Hyborea without assassins or demons! HA! How about...

Surviving A Dangerous Night Of Gaming With Original Dungeons & Dragons

The Greyhawk Supplement introduced Druid as a "monster" (NPC), with the inherent use as a PC. This was made official in Eldritch Wizardry with rules for player character Druids.

D&D 5E Character sheet: Ability score or modifier in the big box?

Correct order puts Dexterity between Constitution and Charisma. Remember, Thieves are a class from a supplement, Dexterity doesn't really matter to each character as much as Constitution does ;)

The New D&D Adventure Is - Tomb of Annihilation!

Ugh, FINE: The Dalelands Adventurer's Guide, complete with the lost elven city of Greyhawk nestled deep in the Valley of the Mage (run by a Red Wizard lich of course). But in slightly more seriousness: Man, you'd think with all the Greyhawk swiping they do for 'name recognition' that they'd...

Ah screw this, I'm gonna go make my own Tomb of Acererak, WITH BLACKJACK AND HOOKERS!

The New D&D Adventure Is - Tomb of Annihilation!

Of course, my answer was an analogy and the issue with implications are they are subjective. Fact is, if you aren't stating a particular setting, WotC (and by extension, any reasonable person playing 5E) can safely assume you're in the Forgotten Realms/Sword Coast. It's how they've modeled the...

Have they announced the Central Flanaess Adventurer's Guide yet? SO looking forward to that book!

The New D&D Adventure Is - Tomb of Annihilation!

I saw the DMG and, after reading the cover description, spent far too long looking for a jeweled skull in the picture. Now it appears there are TWO Acereraks: a sneaky, devious demi lich in Greyhawk and a wet behind the ears uber lich in Faerun. I also have characters in different worlds that...

The New D&D Adventure Is - Tomb of Annihilation!

Saying the Earth is flat doesn't make it any less round. By definition (a preselected option adopted by a computer program or other mechanism when no alternative is specified by the user or programmer) it is factually the default setting, regardless how WotC spins it.

The New D&D Adventure Storyline Will Be Announced On June 2nd-3rd

Couldn't be better said, I love this idea and wish WotC would listen. D&D was always meant to be a GENERIC fantasy adventure game, not a showcase for any particular novel series or writer/creator.

The New D&D Adventure Storyline Will Be Announced On June 2nd-3rd

I'll have you know I'm one of the oldest of those losers Mate! Gary's work will never be irrelevant to me, but WotC? Just a name-drop for them. I loved the Realms when they first came out, but now it's like a favorite song that's been played to death. Not only has it absorbed Kara-Tur, but now...

The New D&D Adventure Storyline Will Be Announced On June 2nd-3rd

But of course we all know that WotC doesn't have a "default setting" so there's NO WAY Acererak would EVER be caught undead in the Forgotten Realms. Why, that would be proof beyond any reasonable doubt that the Forgotten Realms IS; as a cold, hard, provable fact, THE default D&D setting, once...
