    Tips for Spicing Up Combat

Wow, that's a lot of responses. Apologies for not getting back to this thread sooner, I've been reading and doing prepwork for my campaign. We did our latest session this Monday and thanks to the advice seen here I think it went better than the last couple have gone. One of the main things I...

    Tips for Spicing Up Combat

Hey guys, Figured I'd come here and seek some DMing advice. I'm actually running my first 4e campaign ever, and I've been running into some issues (or at least, things I perceive as issues). My group initially began as a D&D Encounters group running Keep on the Borderlands. We finished that...

    Humanocentrism

    1. Doesn't bother me, as long as the races are not mechanically advantaged over each other, though that's naturally your choice 2. Doesn't strike me as true at all, unless you design it that way. My homebrew campaign setting focuses in on one city, and the 10 (and growing) human "races"...

    Humanocentrism

If you want humans to be more important setting-wise than other races, you need to give them more rules-space than other races. IMO that means developing subraces for humans, not necessarily just tacking on more bonuses to the generic human.

    eDragon: Starlock feats and powers

I don't see a problem with this, considering that the Warlock doesn't get to choose either of his at-will powers. And either way, even a human character only gets one standard, move, and minor action. Dire Radiance is the weakest of the three pact powers IMO, and a human who can effectively use...

    eDragon: Starlock feats and powers

Student to Caiphon question: If I'm a Dragonborn, what level does my breath encounter power count as? Twofold Pact is a no-brainer for a Tiefling Warlock of non-Star Pact. This thing needs to drop the racial restriction and add a Star Pact only restriction. For Starlocks this is a new at-will...

Warlock Feat:2nd Pact. Does it work?

I would have actually preferred if the core Warlock feats were structured more like this: [Something Other Than Improved] Misty Step Prereqs: (Same -Pact) Benefit: When a cursed enemy is slain you may choose to forego your pact boon to teleport two squares. Special: If you have the Fey Pact you...

    Low Magic Grim and Gritty

My group has been having fun with Iron Heroes. Instead of having reams and reams of houserules on magic, spells, alignment, character progression, etc, I have one book that I can refer to. Iron Heroes does have some rough patches, and you need to be aware that IH PCs are more flexible and...

What's your alignment in real life?

None, because I don't see the need to classify myself based on some contrived system made for a game.

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

Agreed. To me much of this sounds like sour grapes and axe grinding on a target-of-the-week. Pretty much it boils down to this: "Worldbuilding was bad in these instances because I felt like these choices were unreasonable." Not everyone is going to draw the line between reasonable and...
