Pirate's Guide to Freeport -- Impressions?

    Authors plural, he said sulkily.

    Perfect. Many thanks!

    Invisibility vs. scent

That's pretty clear from the rules, yeah, but doesn't address whether the creature loses its Dex bonus against an invisible attacker. Or to put it another way - the rules are clear about scent attacking invisibility, but less clear about invisibility attacking scent.

    Invisibility vs. scent

We've recently added a ninja to my Eberron game, and in the first session the PCs fought a group of trained blink dogs. The question came up as to whether the ninja could effectively use its sudden strike ability (which relies on opponents being denied their Dex bonus) against the dogs. The...

What would happen if WotC yanked the d20 License? [and OGL]

I think it's fairly obvious that the 'review' tag is for a book/game review, which is how every other poster seems to use it. As for other categories - 'WotC' or 'General' both seem more appropriate. I'm not trying to attack you here, but it's a consistent habit of yours, and I find it...

What would happen if WotC yanked the d20 License? [and OGL]

Why is this thread labelled as a 'review'? In fact, why is every single thread I've seen Emirikol start labelled inappropriately?

    Eberron in a nutshell

Here's a bit from the handout I sent my Eberron players, focusing on mood and tone rather than hard setting details; I think that's more useful as a selling point than explaining how elves are different. -- There are four key elements to Eberron’s tone and feel. Heroic Fantasy: A band of...

    Rangers and splash weapons

That's pretty much my gut feeling too.

    Rangers and splash weapons

No, sneak attack's a bit clearer, as per the rulings on things like volleys of shuriken or casting multiple-damage-effect spells like orbs. And it's not my tactic per se; it's just that one of my group plays a ranger with a taste for acidic fire. He doesn't know the rules well enough to...

    Rangers and splash weapons

Does a ranger's favoured enemy damage bonus apply to splash weapon damage, such as alchemist's fire? The rule says 'weapon damage', so it's clearly not applied to spells, but are splash weapons considered 'weapons'? If so, how does that affect multiple damaging effects? For instance, acidic...

Dragon Shaman - Gimme something to go on here...

This is a list of quick ideas I put together when one of my group decided to play a dragon shaman in my Eberron game. I think it'd be easy to come up with ten similar concepts for any other setting, then let the player do the work of ironing out the details. -- 1 – You’re part of a small...

    Price Madness at my LGS

The two factors I'd guess at: - They're passing along shipping, handling and customs expediting costs, which any import operation has to deal with on a regular basis. The former owners may have absorbed more of those costs. - The distributor they buy the books from charges a higher price...

    Price Madness at my LGS

If they're coming here, it's no problem to pick it up from MilSims either. They're not in the CBD, but they're not so far away that it costs much to get out and buy direct either. Not that I've done so; I like Mind Games, and it's more convenient for me to shop in the CBD. But if your friend is...

    World's Largest City [Merged]

It's not unusual for a publisher to order a small amount of advance copies ahead of the main print run, which they can use for marketing or promotional purposes until the bulk stock arrives. We do it all the time in my day job. (We also get a lot more than 5 advances, but we're a lot bigger...

Dungeon #114 - Mad God's Key (spoilers likely)

Well, yes and no. I'm hedging my bets, since I'd prefer none of the PCs to die from a bad Jump check. Some bridges in Sharn have permanent feather fall wards built-in, so anything/anyone falling onto one gets slowed to a softer landing - and by sheer coincidence, the chase will happen above such...

Dungeon #114 - Mad God's Key (spoilers likely)

I haven't run the whole adventure as written, but I'm cheerfully plagarizing the pier-chase scene for Sunday's session - transplanting it to Sharn, and having it be a chase across airskiffs and window ledges, hundreds of feet up a tower.

Monster Manual IV - an ongoing review

Well, Merric, your review convinced me - I bought MMIV a couple of hours ago, and I'm looking forward to reading it later this evening.

Pirate's Guide to Freeport: When is it out?

I'm not entirely sure, but apparently it's looking like February-March. Which is a shame, but such is life. The October date was never particularly solid - not that that ever stops Amazon from sticking a date up and then leaving it unchanged.

Freeport - Which adventure to use next?

I think Hell's a lot of fun, personally. Although it needs a fair bit of reworking for 3.5 updates.

    City Supplement - Your favorite?

For the record, the Pirate's Guide to Freeport will have a lot more of both locations and NPCs (albeit non-statted-up NPCs, given that it's a stat-free book). Not that this helps you now. But if you have money burning a hole in your pocket at the end of the year...
