Who are the most inventive game designers?

Bruce developed the entire GWd20 line. And I, for one, loved every goddamn book. Especially the GMG, which is one of the best books on GMing ever. I even liked it more than Machines & Mutants, and I wrote a big chunk of that sucker.

Brisbane gamers - Sale at Dailys

I saw quite a few other GR books there when I checked. And I've been wanting to get some more S&S and MonkeyGod material

Brisbane gamers - Sale at Dailys

I saw that, and plan to head on in next week when I'm on holidays. Mind you, I already own all of the Malhavoc stuff they've got there (fanboy that I am), but it's a good way to grab a lot of Green Ronin stuff cheap (and then claim it back on tax next year...).

    Buying Eberron in Brisbane Australia

Like I said, the bottom line for the customer is the price (and the service), and the reasons behind that price don't (and shouldn't) matter. I'm sympathetic because I used to work in that same business myself - but I still buy most of my stuff at Ace, nonetheless.

    Buying Eberron in Brisbane Australia

Having worked in Brisbane game/comic retail myself, and knowing the owners of both Ace and Daily Planet, I don't think this is 'price gouging'. The issue is that the two stores order their stocks from different distributors, with different prices and discount schemes. I'm not sure who Ace is...

    Any news on DTRPG?

    Good to know. Thank you.

    Any news on DTRPG?

Actually that's not true. White Wolf don't own DTRPG; the people who own White Wolf also own DTRPG? Think that's a meaningless difference? I don't. It means that I don't work for DTRPG or have any stake in its success or failure. It also means that, since the two of them are seperate entities...

    Any news on DTRPG?

General FYI Part Two: I have no relationship with DriveThruRPG in any way. I write for White Wolf, yes, and some books that I have worked on are sold through DTRPG. I don't make any additional money from those sales, and don't recieve any kind of discount or preferential treatment from DTRPG...

    Any news on DTRPG?

Sorry Funksaw, but I've had nothing but good service and satisfactory files from DTRPG thus far. But hey, keep tilting at those windmills.

    S&SS Advanced Players Guide

Simplicity, really, but also dependability. The same way that, say, a character's AC is 10+mods as a default, rather than d20+mods or 3d6+mods. Makes things faster by not adding yet another roll in combat, and also provides a dependable, predictable base of effect. Which is something I like in...

    S&SS Advanced Players Guide

Well, the system in the APG is a lot simpler, of course; I only had 10,000 words to work with, rather than a full book. But I think it produces some fun and interesting results, in the spirit of something like the old Warhammer RPG, while still being reasonably fast and straightforward. But of...

    S&SS Advanced Players Guide

Glad to hear it! (I didn't do the geomancer, but I'm looking forward to checking that bit out myself when my author copies arrive. Geomancy's cool.)

    S&SS Advanced Players Guide

The chart has, I think, maybe 5 entries. It's been a while since I wrote it. In practice, the wound level system is pretty simple, because the Damage Check bonus of your character is a fixed number. It can be temporarily modified by something like a spell, but 90% of the time it's going to stay...

    S&SS Advanced Players Guide

Just wanted to clarify things. As for me, I wrote the wound level and critical hits systems, as well as the alternative spellcasting systems.

    S&SS Advanced Players Guide

If by 'lifted' you mean "written by Geoff Skellams, who also wrote the community rules for Gamma World, then heavily reworked and revised them to work for fantasy games", then yes.

    Anyone playing Urban Arcana?

Not yet. Probably sometime this year, though, when I wrap up my Ravenloft game. My main idea, at this point, is that the PCs are established players in the mystic underground, 6th level movers and shakers in a world that has only a very low-level of magic. But all of a sudden, the world's...

    Gamma World New Edition Question?

    Goddamnit, that is cool.

    Using Detect Evil/Good

The simple house rule I use in my Prime Movers campaign is that 'faint' auras aren't detectable. So low-level characters or low-HD 'mundane' creatures don't register as good, evil or whatever, but even minor undead, outsiders or clerics do. It's early in the campaign, but so far it works.

Sean K Reynolds on getting into the RPG industry

It's nice to know I'm not the only writer who gets hounded over using 'too many' semicolons. Damnit, semicolons are God's own punctuation. Editors need to get with the program.

Gamma World Mutants & Machines Book

The explanation is that the Sleeth power is different to the Chirplick power. So they have different mechanics. Plain and simple. Yes, the two powers have the same name. Then again, both Gorgons and White Dragons have 'breath weapon' as a power with different mechanics, to pull an example out...
