    KotS: Adaptation for three players

I'm going to run Keep on the Shadowfell for three players. Currently, they are thinking of playing an Eladrin Wizard, an Elf Cleric, and a Dragonborn Warlord. Things I'm worried about: The Warlord may get roped into the defender role and may not really be able to make full use of his...

Tenser's Floating Disk. Better than Knights Move?

Ummm... sure. You can move it up to your speed on your turn as a move action. Of course, if the Rogue moves on its turn, then it gets off the Disk. I don't see how this is a problem... or particularly powerful. I suppose it allows a ritual-user to sub in their move actions for another...

    Rangers and bastard swords

Maybe it is just me, but I've been wanting to play a ranger who dual wields hand axes or javelins or something that can benefit from both dual wielding and ranged powers without switching weapons... -Stuart

    Suggestions for Player Bribes

    - Extra gold at character creation. - The ability to swap out a single class skill for another skill. - A small amount of XP (so the PC starts out an encounter or two ahead) - An expendable item (potion, alchemical item, or whatnot) -Stuart

    Ranger Paragon Path Arbitrariness

So... The choice of a ranger fighting style doesn't dictate the types of powers you take. It is perfectly feasible to take the two-weapon combat style and focus on ranged combat powers. You can even pick up the Defensive Mobility feat - so you'll be functionally equivalent to a Ranger with the...

add 1/2 level to ability checks? What? Why?

Here are a couple interpretations (which are compatible with each other): 1. Ability checks are an expression not just of your base attribute, but with your skill in applying it. By level 30, a wizard is going to know more about how to use that strength he has effectively than he did at level...

    Out-monking a Monk in 20 levels.

You actually said a single build - a single build of Druid can do all of those things. Spells can be changed on a daily basis (and many of them don't require much in the way of spells). ...and, honestly, Druids get enough spells that they can do several of those things the same day. -Stuart

Yeah, well, a druid is also capable of out-fightering the fighter, out-rangering the ranger, out-rogueing the rogue... -Stuart

    Rituals + Magic Items...

I was talking about this last night... If there isn't a magic item that lets you store the effect of a ritual and 'cast' it later with, say, a standard action, then there will be soon. -Stuart

    Out-monking a Monk in 20 levels.

A swift hunter with Two weapon fighting and improved (and superior) unarmed strike might be cool. You get mobility and you can alternate between a full attack with a mini-FoB due to two weapon fighting or skirmish damage. Ranger spells will help with some of the esoteric monk-things...

Help Tweak A Dragon Disciple (my players, stay out!)

I'm pretty sure that you can be one step away... which would allow either Blink Dog (LG) or Pseudodragon (NG). -Stuart

Help Tweak A Dragon Disciple (my players, stay out!)

::nod:: In the SRD, I think you are limited to a Wyrmling Green Dragon... which, I guess, is useful for mobility (good fly speed, decent swim speed and water breathing). Everything else is either too small or too many HD. Checking out the Spawn of Tiamat from MMIV and various other things is...

Help Tweak A Dragon Disciple (my players, stay out!)

Well... as a 10th level Dragon Disciple, her creature type is Dragon. This will make Alter Self fun. Arcane Strike is often a good feat for a Dragon Disciple, but this build has no high level spells to make it really worthwhile. If you plan on advancing as an Ab Champ, it may be worth it. BAB...

    Druid Feats

OK. That helps a lot. At level 9, you have 4 feats to play with. Augment Summoning isn't worth it if you're giving up spontaneous summoning. I'd go with: Scribe Scroll Power Attack Extend Spell something else charge/combat related At 12th or 15th level, consider picking up Persistent Spell...
