D&D General "When I DM, I Try to Make Sure to Lay Eyes on Every Roll My Players Make to Confirm It" (a poll)

I don't believe it is possible to "cheat" at D&D, as this isn't they type of game you play to win, and it definitely isn't meant to be competitive by default. I adjust my rolls as the DM to make combat more or less of a challenge as needed, and I have no problems with my players doing the same...

D&D General The Owlbear Druid: How Would You Do It? (A Poll)

Druids in 3.5 can using the planar Sheppard prestige class.

    D&D 5E Toward a new D&D aesthetics

I think if there is a trend in the art, it is away from romanticized eastern European "medevil" and towards the sort of fantasy often depected in wider media of the 70s and on.

    D&D General Daern's Instant Fortress Table-Sized Replica

I'm ok with the price point, but I want to know if it has interior access.

    Non-binary population percentage?

I don't think this is something that would work well as a blind randomization. It greatly depends on culture, where male and female gender norms are going to mean very different things (and by extension non-binary).

D&D 5E What magic items would a Lich King have (Thay and Szass Tam)?

I don't see why an undead wizard dictator who is obsessed with his own immortality would have magic items suited for combat personally. He has an entire army, along with assassins, wizards, clerics, and undead. Getting to him would be near impossible unless you script it. I would give him items...

What Is "Unnecessary Complexity" to You?

I second these and would add spell descriptions. I dont want 30 pages of prewritten spells, all with varying levels of usefulness from garbage to gotta have. Give me a chart of various spell features and let the player decide how to combine them into unique spell effects, or just eldritch blast...

    D&D 5E Is D&D 90% Combat?

Most of the rules in D&D focus on combat because...that is what we need rules for. Talking and running require little or no rules.

Would you play in a campaign with racial/class limits of it fits the story?

This question greatly depends on individual circumstance. Generally I wouldn't play in a campaign that restricted content unless there was a very compelling reason. I like diverse options and not limiting possibilities in my fantasy. That said, I could understand why someone would limit such...

Would you play in a campaign with racial/class limits of it fits the story?

The same way you play without them. It is a plausible campaign world because it is a fantasy campaign world.

D&D 5E Is there a general theory of party construction?

It really depends on the type of D&D game you are going for. If it is being run more like a turn based combat game then tactical decisions should guide how players make their characters, with a healer, tank, DPS, etc. If it is being run more as a story driven or character interaction driven game...

Max number of days you can provision for?

It greatly depends on class/race composition. No need to worry much about food/water if you have a Druid for example, and Warforged cut down on mouths to feed. That said, no need to take more than a few days rations into the dungeon so long as you have some Survival skill with which to forage.

    D&D 5E D&D Races: Evolution, Fantasy Stereotypes & Escapism

As an experimental psychologist I really like the OPs way of breaking this down, they did a good job. I don't think the problem is with stereotypes, though the OP is correct that modern global society is more conscious of different perspectives on how specific stereotypes impact others. I also...

    D&D 5E D&D Beyond vs Print Books

For the sake of clarity I have both physical and D&D Beyond versions of each book. That said, the physical books I treat as a back up and archive, while D&D Beyond I treat as a service. With the license I have my players all have access to the library at the table, and the material is faster to...

D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

The shadar-kai are descended from elves who pledged themselves to the Raven Queen, so a Prime Material version would be a society of elves who worship the Raven Queen or something similar I would think.

D&D General Dark Sun Nostalgia Thread [+]

The art and unique setting mechanics really drew me in, but the lore was so bad that it eventually drove me away. Everything had that barely thought out grim dark style that makes 40K lore so terrabad IMO. If they ever do bring it back, I hope they put a lot more work into the lore.

D&D 5E Silvery Barbs, how would you fix it? Does it need fixing?

One of the reasons I LIKE Silvery Barbs is that it is another way for casters to effectively spell duel in combat, instead of just hurling damage at one another. It is a highly useful low level reaction spell that could see one caster using it to negate an enemy save while buffing an ally, while...

D&D 5E Silvery Barbs, how would you fix it? Does it need fixing?

Personally seems useful enough to encourage taking, but not overpowering. If you feel the need to limit it you could always restrict it to those with the appropriate Strixhaven background.

    D&D 5E 50th Anniversary and beyond

This is a loaded question, and definitely has a biasing frame. I would like to address these one by one. Change: Starting stat bonuses no longer being tied to race Response: It seems likely this will be fully implemented moving forward, and that is a good thing. I can personally see no sound...
